I have two family members who work for PG&E and in different grid zones. They've both heard through the PG&E rumor mill that China wants to or is going to purchase the PG&E Company. Any of you Freepers heard of this?
Aside from another American company being sold to a foreign invester/country Yolo County will soon be voting to keep PG&E or to let SMUD take over as the electrical service provider. If this China buy out is true I'm certain the Yolo County voters would want to know about it. Maybe someone from a news org will look into this.
Ya know, you always hear about buggy whip manufacturers but never hear about the Fisher Bros. Their father started out making horse drawn carriages and they ended up making bodies for cars -- Body By Fisher.
And yes, it sucks to be outdated. But what sucks even more is a bunch of really pi@@ed off Americans in search of someone to blame.
It is happening here. But it's always "happened here." America is not static. It's a country that is in a constant state of change. It's one of our greatest traits and one of our most tragic characteristics.
To put it bluntly, every generation reaches old age in country radically changed from the one they were born into...
The secret is to adapt.
Not for long. Communists are movin' in fast. But it's OK 'cause all that counts is the money.
"I'm sick to death of watching our jobs go to other countries and the jobs left here are being snatched up by illegals because "they are doing the jobs most Americans won't do". That's a LIE!!!"
Come on over to my ranch. I need about 100 miles of barbed wire fence restrung that was damaged in a prairie fire. Pay is $50/day, cash, on Friday. but you have to sleep outdoors when in field. Bunkhouse when not. Horse & tackle provided. Transportation to Church on Sunday.
Let me consider the offer:
A)Hot Texas sun in the summer.
B)Barbed wire
C)One of those pulley gizmos/wire stretcher to stretch it.
D)Shoddy wire breaking under tension and zipping at supersonic speeds at my face.
E)Probably one of those manual hole digging tools involved.
I'll pass.
Will you furnish the gas for me to get there? I am in Ohio. :o)
This isn't the America I grew up in. :o(
That's the phrase I keep finding myself saying over and over again to myself. We're screwed folks.
Dag gonnit,durasell......you just proved me wrong! LOL
Go back and read some Alexis DeTocqueville. It's as true today as when he wrote it more than a hundred years ago.
The worst is the post digging tool. I once smashed one to bits after a day's work.
I hear ya. I'm not a very happy camper these days.I did get cheered up somewhat last night though....watching the President and his "other self". I LMAO....that impersonator was fantastic. They both did a splendid job. The whole thing was ruined by that Cobert guy. That was AWFUL.
Amazingly, my only serious takers are Vaqueros. (I do require green cards.)
I've used US Citizens, and the only ones that ever any good was a bunch of former drug addicts who liked being in the middle of BFE because it kept them away from drugs.
Basically, a free outward bound.
I've dug a lot of holes in my lifetime.....only to find myself IN them.......LOL I'm afraid I couldn't do that type of work. My body couldn't handle it. LOL
Basically, a free outward bound.
Keep telling yourself that if it eases your conscious. You might even put an ad in the back of the Sunday NYT Magazine --
Texas Adventure!
Spend the summer taming the western prairies!
Price: $1,000 a week. All Inclusive!
Generally, the worst are the mules packing the post hole diggers. They bite, as well as kick. That, or not shaking the scorpians out of your boots in the morning.
Think about this, next time you are complaining about the price of beef.
I knew there were post hole diggers involved!
"Keep telling yourself that if it eases your conscious."
I may own the ranch, but it's not like I don't do it, too.
Learned that in the Army. Never give an order that you wouldn't do.
May I ask about where you are in west texas. I went through there as a youth.
In seriousness, we use metal posts, so they pretty much drive themselves. Well, with a sledge.
You only have to use a PHD at the gates.
Never had a better workout than when I am swinging a 15lb sledge all day.
