If you really think al Qaeda was behind McVeigh, then I really don't understand why catching them is not a bigger priority for you than the illegal alien gardener who is doing nothing more than making a better life for himself and his family?

"Otherwise" didn't mean a thing. OK, so burglars who don't also sell drugs are "otherwise" law abiding. Rapists who pay their taxes are "otherwise" law abiding. The word doesn't help your illogic.

If I were you, I wouldn't tout your Law School thing too much. Lawyers are one of the most disdained groups of people in the US (with good reason).

But we share an alma mater (as much as it embarrasses me to say so).

Very Good! That was informative.

We can ignore validictorian vs. honors student that's precisely the kind of irrelevancy that your public school vs. private school arguement was.

So Congressman Tancredo was focussing on an illegal immigrant and making a point, as political leaders sometimes do, about enforcing our LAWS. I imagine as we enforce our laws about immigration there will be lots of people like this young student that we like and admire that are here illegally. On a personal level this is sad, but on the level of our national laws, this is how law enforcement is supposed to work.

And as I posted previously, his stance reflects somewhere between 65 and 80 percent of the US citizenry's opinions. Is that how you define knee jerkedness?

law abiding illegal aliens.

You must admit, clawrence, that was a pretty bad statement you made, what with you being a lawyer and all...

I'm sure like fd 2003 said, that will come back to bite you on the butt many times. See if you can borrow Karl Rove's time machine and not post that. lololol

Actually, there was a surge this year of illegal aliens filing past tax returns and even paying fines, so as to start documenting their residence in the country. How about the ones who get all the appropriate vaccinations, heck, some even get English tutors for their kids, or those who don't drive, drunk or not, but have to walk or take public transportation everywhere?

Too bad you deleted the word "otherwise" right before those words.

If they go to all that trouble, why not just do it right in the first place? (Hint: it's because they don't think they need our stinkin' laws.)

JMO, if that honor student's name had been Smith with an expired visa, Cong. tancredo would have not made the call and you know it.

I do care about the law, which is why I am trying to change it the right way.

Ok, let's put the "otherwise" back in. Now, can we offer the same breaks to "otherwise" law-abiding murderers, rapists, child molesters, burglars, and muggers? "Otherwise" doesn't really help much, does it? They're still criminals, whether because of illegal entry into our country, or any other crime.

Illegal is illegal. And you're an officer of the court? God help us all.
