Rush Limbaugh's attorney has issued a statement announcing a settlement of the Florida prosecutor's investigation into alleged doctor shopping by Rush Limbaugh.

Details have been read by Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh. Basically, the charge of doctor shopping is dismissed, with some conditions.

In response to media and other inquiries, Roy Black, Rush Limbaugh's attorney, released the following statement today concerning a settlement agreement with the Palm Beach County State Attorney's Office to end the investigation of Mr. Limbaugh:

"I am pleased to announce that the State Attorney's Office and Mr. Limbaugh have reached an agreement whereby a single count charge of doctor shopping filed today by the State Attorney will be dismissed in 18 months. As a primary condition of the dismissal, Mr. Limbaugh must continue to seek treatment from the doctor he has seen for the past two and one half years. This is the same doctor under whose care Mr. Limbaugh has remained free of his addiction without relapse.

"Mr. Limbaugh and I have maintained from the start that there was no doctor shopping, and we continue to hold this position. Accordingly, we filed today with the Court a plea of 'Not Guilty' to the charge filed by the State.

"As part of this agreement, Mr. Limbaugh also has agreed to make a $30,000 payment to the State of Florida to defray the public cost of the investigation. The agreement also provides that he must refrain from violating the law during this 18 months, must pay $30 per month for the cost of "supervision" and comply with other similar provisions of the agreement.

"Mr. Limbaugh had intended to remain in treatment. Thus, we believe the outcome for him personally will be much as if he had fought the charge and won."

The actions taken today are as follows:

-- The State Attorney has filed a single charge of doctor shopping with the Court. The charge is being held in abeyance under the terms of an agreement between the State and Mr. Limbaugh.

-- Mr. Limbaugh has filed a plea of "Not Guilty" with the Court.

The formal agreement between Mr. Limbaugh and the State Attorney will be filed with the Court on Monday. The terms of the agreement are substantively as follows:

-- Mr. Limbaugh will continue in treatment with the doctor he has seen for the past two and one half years.

-- After Mr. Limbaugh completes an additional 18 months of treatment, the State Attorney has agreed to drop the charge.

-- Mr. Limbaugh has agreed to make a $30,000 payment to the State of Florida to defray the public cost of the investigation.

Hope you weren't in your 50s and 50 lbs. overweight.

Big stomach on the man. Typical candidate for heart attack.

No screening done at all. No cholesterol, no tests, just called in the RX.

What a shame. There is the last picture taken of the man in his tux at his daughter's wedding.

Damn fools at NBC in tonights evening news used the word "arrested". The spin goes on.
---
He was arrested. There was a warrant issued, he immediately turned himself in. He went before a judge and bond was set at $3000, and he paid it. Between the time he turned himself in and he paid the bond he was under arrest. After that he was free to go.
During the course of all this he plead not guilty and an agreement was made (actually no doubt this whole thing was preplanned) that if Mr. Limbaugh met certain conditions the charge would be dropped in eighteen months.
But he was arrested.

Yeah you are right. This is small, petty stuff for Rush. This is a guy who can get the President, VP or Sec. of State on his show with a phone call. Petty stuff is not in his venue at all.

According to WABC radio news just now, there is NO agreement on this case. The agreement is now in the attorney's hands and Rush has yet to officially sign off on this.

Well, he's *legally* under some kind of court supervision for 18 months, so no matter what he pled, the adjudication hasn't really been deferred - somebody, somewhere imposed that sanction and chances are it was or will be a judge, probably the Monday paperwork alluded to.

When it is signed by the judge, that's adjudication -- as if RL waived a jury trial. I suppose his doctor is "in loco parole officeris" for the deal.

You're right about that and worth a repeat!

Perhaps in the technical sense but certainly not in the traditional sense of the word. Or are you saying handcuffs, mug shots, holding cells, strip searches, fingerprints, etc. were involved? You know darn well that was the intent of the structure of those "news" pieces, to plant such images in their audience's minds.

I just watched the first few minutes of "On The Record w/Greta VanSusteren." She had her panel of "experts" on, three lawyers and an ex-DC cop I think they are. I used to have a little respect for these guys. Every single one took the hard-left line that Rush got away with something because he's rich...and white. The lawyers all came down with amnesia that only seemed to affect their legal educations and the black ex-cop totally backed the race-card. Pathetic partisan leftists to a man.

To Greta's credit she argued as best she could about the facts and the law, and seemed incredulous at her panel's positions, but they cowed her in the end. The all looked sheepish but held fast to their "rich-guy's law," "white-guy's law."

No, around 40, and in fairly good shape physically. Had a series of muscle sprains related to trying to stay in shape in the same manner that I did when I was 30. I guess I was fairly lucky, or at least in the right group for using Vioxx. Too bad the full information wasn't out before the drug was approved - they'd have been more careful in prescribing it. In retrospect, it seems that doctors looked at Vioxx as the new asparin.
