Rush Limbaugh's attorney has issued a statement announcing a settlement of the Florida prosecutor's investigation into alleged doctor shopping by Rush Limbaugh.
Details have been read by Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh. Basically, the charge of doctor shopping is dismissed, with some conditions.
In response to media and other inquiries, Roy Black, Rush Limbaugh's attorney, released the following statement today concerning a settlement agreement with the Palm Beach County State Attorney's Office to end the investigation of Mr. Limbaugh:
"I am pleased to announce that the State Attorney's Office and Mr. Limbaugh have reached an agreement whereby a single count charge of doctor shopping filed today by the State Attorney will be dismissed in 18 months. As a primary condition of the dismissal, Mr. Limbaugh must continue to seek treatment from the doctor he has seen for the past two and one half years. This is the same doctor under whose care Mr. Limbaugh has remained free of his addiction without relapse.
"Mr. Limbaugh and I have maintained from the start that there was no doctor shopping, and we continue to hold this position. Accordingly, we filed today with the Court a plea of 'Not Guilty' to the charge filed by the State.
"As part of this agreement, Mr. Limbaugh also has agreed to make a $30,000 payment to the State of Florida to defray the public cost of the investigation. The agreement also provides that he must refrain from violating the law during this 18 months, must pay $30 per month for the cost of "supervision" and comply with other similar provisions of the agreement.
"Mr. Limbaugh had intended to remain in treatment. Thus, we believe the outcome for him personally will be much as if he had fought the charge and won."
The actions taken today are as follows:
-- The State Attorney has filed a single charge of doctor shopping with the Court. The charge is being held in abeyance under the terms of an agreement between the State and Mr. Limbaugh.
-- Mr. Limbaugh has filed a plea of "Not Guilty" with the Court.
The formal agreement between Mr. Limbaugh and the State Attorney will be filed with the Court on Monday. The terms of the agreement are substantively as follows:
-- Mr. Limbaugh will continue in treatment with the doctor he has seen for the past two and one half years.
-- After Mr. Limbaugh completes an additional 18 months of treatment, the State Attorney has agreed to drop the charge.
-- Mr. Limbaugh has agreed to make a $30,000 payment to the State of Florida to defray the public cost of the investigation.
And the fact I was impeached by those yahoos over in the House.
Appearing on the O'Reilly show, Judge Napolitano just called today's event a colossal victory for Rush.
You have some major issues. Major.
You don't seem to be able to handle the truth.
He's already bonded out - so I don't think he'll need a sub for Monday.
You're technically correct, but the overwhelming odds are it did. Radio headphones degrade your hearing, I can attest, but they don't cause complete, total, and instant deafness.
That's probably what they would *think* - but it's a "Higher Power" and can be your dog or a tree or a doorknob or just about anything the 12-Stepper wants it to be.
Bill W was thinking ahead, ya know - and it's important not to scare anyone off. Courts sentence people to AA all the time.
Until I hear it from a doctor, I'm not going to make assumptions.
Please elaborate. What are my "issues"?
You don't seem to be able to handle the truth.
Actually, it's you who can't handle the truth, because you don't have a clue what it is.
Oh, when's the last time you spoke to Rush?
Your analysis is correct - but "surrendering" to a warrant does have the term "arrested" to it - because you are actually booked and then released.
Of course I believe that if Rush broke the law he should pay the proper penalty. But this was undoubtedly a political prosecution driven by no other reason than an attempt to blunt his tremendous media power (especially in the last Presidential election). The DA wouldn't have pursued this case so vigorously--if at all--if an "Average Joe" were involved rather than probably the most influential conservative commentator of our lifetime.
Is that a threat?
Your impressions of Howlin are WRONG WRONG WRONG.
IMHO, I am disappointed that Rush agreed to resolve the witch hunt this way. Since Rush claims that he is completely innocent, he should have let the law run its course and not copped a plea.......
I like this one better.

Drug charges are close to your heart?
I'm not being "touchy", Howlin. I think you're playing to the crowd. And, I think it's beneath you. Rush Limbaugh, warts and all, has served the Republican/Conservative cause in extraordinary ways.
Rush is at his lowest right now, and I would hope you could rally and defend him as you rally and defend GWB.
Why? Because Rush is the one voice in the wilderness who will lead the charge to save both the legacy of GWB and the viability of the Republican party.
I'd like to "hear" you wish Rush Limbaugh well, with just a smidgen of gratitude that the mid-term elections will not be overshadowed by a Limbaugh trial.
Like it or not, Rush Limbaugh's efforts will help keep control of the House of Representative in the hands of Republicans; and if he is successful, GWB will not go down in history as another "impeached one".
This whole event was a political witch hunt. Show me the mug shots of McKinney, or Sandy Berger, or Bill Clinton and I might be inclined to change my mind.
We're in a war, and all I ask is that you not help take out a needed general.
