I don't know if that would keep me from voting for him but it may. I admit to not knowing much about the LDS.

Mainstream LDS are mostly very decent people. The fringe sects, on the other hand.....
My inlaws are LDS, and I would have no problem with one as President.

The policies are what matter.

Well, let' see. One of the biggest reasons the evangelicals won't vote for a Mormon is because "they don't' believe in Christ!" (The fact that the actual name of the church is The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter Day Saints doesn't phase their pronouncements. (and "Saints" is what the original followers of Jesus called each other 2000 years ago)

and "They don't believe in the Bible!" (They not only believe in the Bible, they study it from verse one in Genesis to the end of Revelations. the Book of Mormon is not their "Bible", It is a compilation of the dealings of the Lord in the Americas. When the Bible books were composed, no one knew that the Americas existed. No one, that is except the Creator, God. After all, the people in these lands were his people also. Would He have left them abandoned?

The evangelicals seem to spend as much denigrating other religions as honoring their own. Seems judgmental to me. What's that commandment about judging>

Mormons aren't secretive. I;ve always felt the best way to learn about something is from the horses mouth. You might want to look at their sites -

http://www.mormon.org/

and http://www.lds.org/

their most well known college, BYU, also has a TV channel from which you can learn a lot about their beliefs and people and they offer free Bibles and Book of Mormons and movies.

Now - all that said: I will never vote for Mick Romney.

I do not know what happened or who got to him or if he is just blind, but that totally socialistic, and totally 'Massachusetts' bill he is proposing for health insurance is a behemoth - and when Hitlery and sKerry jumped on board enthusiastically, that was the litmus test!

He jumped the shark. He's off the radar with me..,

>>I admit to not knowing much about the LDS.<<

I'll get flamed for saying this, but I admit to knowing enough about LDS that I would never vote for a Mormon for any high office. I am not an evangelical, but consider myself a "Buzzard Baptist"; I only go to church when someone near to me dies.

Mormonism is just too weird to suit my tastes in a president, and Romney is no conservative -- strike two.
