Mainstream LDS are mostly very decent people. The fringe sects, on the other hand.....
My inlaws are LDS, and I would have no problem with one as President.
The policies are what matter.
I agree.
I have had the opportunity to listen to Romney at length because I live in Massachusetts. I don't agree with all of his stands on issues, but then, I don't agree with President Bush on all of HIS stands on issues.
That said, I like the man. He is pretty straightforward and honest(more so than most politicians) in my opinion.
He will be savaged by some people because of his religion, that is the way it is. Heck, I am a Catholic, and some of the things I have heard "Christians" say about Catholics in my presence (They didn't know I was a Catholic) was, umm...pretty revealing. And not very nice. So be it. Just the way some people feel when it comes to religion, that's their business.
BTW...I didn't want to give the impression I think all non-Mormon/Catholic Christians are religious bigots, because they aren't, in my experience. I was just making personal observation that there are people who have views about religion that don't leave much choice about where things stand, just as there are those same types regarding race, gender, etc.
