Let's face it, the primary reason most Christian denominations don't like Mormons is that they proseletize heavily. The LDS church is "competition". With their success rates, they're fairly effective competition, too.

That said, I find your Mormon artwork interesting, I just wonder why it all shows Jesus (and other biblical figures) looking so very northern European.

I'm not sure their success rates are so high. They will let someone join their church within two or three weeks of a knock on the door (versus 18 months for a Catholic). The result is that many new baptisms go inactive pretty quickly. Their recruitment method also tends to get social rejects because those Elders will come and talk to them when no one else will - so they join for social reasons - now they have friends. No intellectual appeal.

And why are the Biblcail figures all white? It is the Mormon belief that (yes, I read the BOM - at least the first half of it) people who aren't white are cursed - God cursed them by making their skin dark. The original Indians here in the Americas were white as the Queen of England but some of them went down the wrong path and were then cursed with swarthyness by God.

Not trying to smear them - but that's the truth as I know it. And as best I can tell, a lot of the people they wind up recruiting usually don't come from a strong religious background to begin with and their affiliation with LDS has a strong positive effect on their lives - not too different from what evangelicals do.

Just a hunch -- my guess would be that the artists themselves were northern European. The artist's license.
