Prominent, respectable Evangelical Christians have told me, not for quotation, that millions of their co-religionists cannot and will not vote for Romney for president solely because he is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. If Romney is nominated and their abstention results in the election of Hillary Rodham Clinton, that's just too bad. The evangelicals are adamant, saying there is no way Romney can win them over.

Red Jacket's response was that he would watch the neighboring white people, to see if the religion made the white people more honest.
So, if you think that mainstream Mormons are virtuous, that testifies well for that religion, what ever its origins. If you think that mainstream Islam drives people to murder, then that testifies bad things, no matter what the origin of that faith.
You can even apply that rule to the Yezdis, or the Jews. Virtue in human society is the only standard. I would rather live among ethical athiests, than unethical people of any religion.

I think Novak is right. Millions of evangelicals will just stay home when faced with a choice between someone they disagree with politically or someone that believes the antithesis of their deeply held faith in God. Count me among them. This will be sad, but if the Republicans are silly enough to put him forth as a standard bearer, then they will earn the result.

America is freedom, restornu. A place where one's beliefs can be presented freely, while the rest of us judge. I have studied your beliefs, I have weighed them in the balances, and I have found them sorely wanting.
Same with Islam, Scientology, Raelianism, Jehovah Witnessess, etc. They make their claims, we weigh it out. Their claims are bogus, just like yours.
Free country, believe what you want. But in this free society I have a right to judge your prophet that your entire belief system is based on...and a right to weigh a man like Romney out, who believes all this bogus Mormon stuff.
Since yours and Romney's Mormon beliefs are based on Joseph Smith, perhaps you'd care to tell us why you and Romney believe the prophet's writings are truth? Sad to say, most Mormons I know have never actually proved the matter out. If they had they wouldn't be Mormons.

I know from being brought up in his church that James Kennedy from Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church used to believe only Evangelical Christians should be elected president. If he still believes that, this could be a dilemma for him.

In short, the LDS Church is fully and undeniably Christian by the tests set forth in the New Testament.

Sorry if this has been already addressed and I'm just being repetitive. Mormons have a different view from most pro-lifers on stem-cell research because life doesn't begin at conception. It began in this "pre-conception" spirit world.

I appreciate your stand for conservative values. I myself am so conservative it hurts. Unfortunately, its the other stuff about Mormonism I have a problem with.
I'm sure you know Muslims are also conservative, so that is not the defining issue in this Romney debate...assuming he were truly conservative, which I doubt, I just don't see how someone who is a true conservative could be elected in Taxachussetts. He probably isn't, the way I see it.
On Mormonism, one poster said "case is closed," well, it would be if Mormonism would get rid of all the bogus stuff, and keep their conservatism. I wouldn't have any problem voting for Romney at all were that the case. But until they do, the case is not closed.
Do you feel that the LDS would infringe upon the respect and rights as others have tried to infringe and malign on the LDS?
I asure that is not even on the LDS radar their focus!

You wouldn't make the declaration and they'd nail you for trying to hide it and it'd become a HUGE issue.
