Air America Radio will lose its New York flagship station, WLIB-AM, on Aug. 31. While the left-leaning radio network’s original lease for the Inner City station ran out March 31, AAR managed to get an extension which only lasts until Aug. 31, according to an informed source.
Through an agreement with ICBC, WLIB will be operated as a joint venture and programmed by P1, a company run by former Clear Channel and Jacor Communications executive Randy Michaels. Michaels is expected to program a progressive-talk format, but replace AAR’s network programming with more local programming. A likely addition to the new lineup: Ed Schultz, the left-of-center talker syndicated by P1.
“To be clear, Air America will not go silent on the New York City airwaves. We do not, however, comment on hypothetical speculation,” said an AAR spokesperson.

I have actually tried to listen to this station (know your enemy and all that) and I simply couldn't believe what I was hearing--yesterday it was some woman going on about Iran--how *we* are pushing them into war with our terrible capitalistic ways, and Iran is just innocent of so many things we accuse them of...has she not listened to Lil' Hitler *AT ALL*???? Talking about bombing Israel off the map (hello, Israel is OUR ally!!) not to mention all his other wonderful world-uniting speeches?? And it's all Bush's fault?!

Ed Schultz is dreadful. Not a chance of him getting any support in New York. As I recall, his hometown does not even broadcast his show.

For some reason, conservative radio hosts are better than liberal counterparts. For instance, even if you don't agree with Rush, you will enjoy listening to his rants. He's got talent.
You are 100% correct. The guy is truly dreadful, that's my point, it will be another failed host..it will be great to watch. Read his bio on his website, its hilarious, he used to be a conservative, until, his girlfriend, took him to lunch in a homeless shelter, then PRESTO, no longer a conservative...that must've been some lunch....
