What I find the most effective- is to apply the "liberal" or "conservative" approach to raising children....

I do that with my mother...

I'll tell her about how I am debating on how to handle a certain situation....then I will give her the "liberal" version....such as- my son is sneaking out... curfew is 10....maybe I should change the curfew to 12.....so he stops sneaking out.

then watch them argue the "conservative" side.....

then I just smile and say, "I guess you're right. I guess my approach was kinda like the 'John Kerry' approach." or something to that effect.. LOL!

fun to watch them twist inside....
