George Anich, 69, a Marine photographer in the 1950's and a support of the President's, stood outside the country club. "Has he done things I don't like? Absolutely. But so has my mother," Anich said. [An attitude perfectly expressed, and one we should all remember.]

A gathering also waited to see the President leave Palm Springs International Airport. Among them was Lindon Leti, 17, of Palm Springs, the recipient of the President's Volunteer Service Award for volunteering at the Palm Springs Boys and Girls Club. "He told me that kids like me, young kids, are getting involved in the community. He presented me with a pin," said Leti, a Palm Springs High School senior and soccer player.

Thanks for the great pictures!

Love the quote about "But so has my mother" done things he doesn't like--isn't that the truth?

"Ladies and Gentlemen, I'm pleased to announce the death of the tie for formal and informal fashion. Let's be honest here, folks. What purpose does the tie serve? To warm your blouse buttons? The way I see, it's a potential choke hazard and must be removed from our daily workplace and any formal festivities.

Not all may understand the annoyances of having a tie choking your neck. Ladies, just think of it as being as useless as a belly button ring or lower back tattoo. You just don't put a bumper sticker on a Rolls Royce, so why does you buttocks need a permanent ink stain? I'm sure all the real men would agree that the back end of your caboose is perfect the way God made it. And why anyone want to pierce their navel is beyond me.

Standing here as your President, I lead the way to undo one of our greatest fashion faux pas. I invite you to follow me. Take off your ties, and meet me outside to burn them all (unless they're an anniversary gift or have other such sentimental value)."

NOTE: I made this up. The President did NOT say the above words...but you could probably image it.
