Same was early during polish-ukranian wars of 17th century. Cossacks of Khmelnitskii killed almost all jews in Ukraine.
They hated jews as oppressors even more then poles. Lot later when they were in Russian Empire all the jewish "pogroms" happened in ukranian and moldovians towns.

I see it like the multiculturism failure. It failed in 17, 18, 19 century. And today.
Joyfully? Or did the Nazis play off the "subhuman" Slavs (Ukrainians) against the Jews? Or, pray tell, what is the history of the secular Jews (atheists) in the Communist party apparatus that helped instrument the "collectivization" programs in the Ukraine thereby creating the forced death by starvation of 7 million Ukrainians during the 1930's, or so it's been said? I don't know what the truth is, maybe you can provide some light on this matter; I've heard several stories from several sides on this sordid relationship and don't know what to believe.
