Iraqi actors killed for entertaining kids

Faud Radi and Haidar Jawad, Iraqi children's entertainers, were executed by armed militias -- the new moral guardians of Baghdad.

The two actors were part of the Happy Family Team, a troupe seen on television and adored by millions of children, the Times of London reported. Their troupe was part of an 11-day festival intended to help youngsters forget Baghdad's curfews, bombings and the dangers of daily life.

The group had been threatened by gunmen who objected to drama classes the company gave to children of all faiths and ethnic backgrounds, the newspaper said.

"We didn't take them seriously," said Safaa Eadi, 31, a founding member of Happy Family Team.

The troupe's building was burned down and, on the eve of the festival, Radi and Jawad were shot. Jawad died instantly and Radi was dragged from their van and beaten to death.

Surviving members of the group voted unanimously to go ahead with the pageant and have vowed to carry on.

Sadr really didn't like the Happy Fun Time Family.

That said this is one of a dozen reasons why the people here that like the militias in Iraq because they supposedly help us are wrong, the US military has also learned they were wrong to tacitly support them as well. Total victory in Iraq will come for me after the US and the Iraqi Army come down on the Madhi Army in Baghdad like a hammer and finish cleansing Ramadi and Baghdad as well.

Sadr needs to die like yesterday, him and his whole smelly 'militia'.

Just drop a JDAM on his 'mosque' and be done with it.

Only if Rush and Hannity are the opening acts.

Why are we spending all of this money on these savages?

Your tax money at work.

It's a hell-hole, for sure. Problem is, the demons keep emerging from the gate.

No, we want them entertained, not tortured.

I was just thinking that maybe the killers would try again!

Good question. When Colin Powell suggested that "You broke it---you bought it", I remember the chorus shouting him down.

But I believe he was correct.

We could have got rid of the Madhi Army on a number of occasions, many were stupid to think that they could work with it and some even thought the Madhi Army was a good thing, because it meant US troops didn't have to patrol large portions of Sadr City, Najaf, etc.

They were wrong.

Savages like the...

Happy Family Team, a troupe seen on television and adored by millions of children...was part of an 11-day festival intended to help youngsters forget Baghdad's curfews, bombings and the dangers of daily life.
[And gave]..drama classes...to children of all faiths and ethnic backgrounds

Time to get rid of this Mehdi Army once and for all. Just like a bad penny... It keeps on showing up. Virtually all but the Sadr faction will be glad that this pest is gone. The major parties will denounce USA in public. But privately they won't cry very much over the loss...

If you're correct, I'm not sure victory is likely to be achieved during this presidency.

We are going to be cleaning out Baghdad this summer big time.

We have held back major offensives in Ramadi and Baghdad because of the political process all the way back to the writing of the Constitution. Once a new Interior Ministery is put in power the gloves can start to come off and we can finally do some of the things I have wanted to see for a long time. Like turning all of Baghdad into a green zone.

Because it's cheaper than fighting them in Miami, Tampa and Daytona.
