Wouldn't that headache of a job mean a pay cut for Tony?

Tony, if the little voice inside says "Don't do it," then perhaps you ought to listen. Notwithstanding, I can't think of anyone better for the job - outside of Mark Levin, that is... :-)

The most attractive thing about an offer from the White House at a time like this is not the glory of being treated like a piñata by Helen Thomas LOL!

This guy just recovered from cancer and has a successful career. Why would you want to spend time you'd normally have with your family looking at Helen Thomas every day?

I think Tony Snow would make mice meat out of Dick Gregory and Helen Thomas.

Tony would do a fabulous job, but I understand him wanting to think about his family first. It would be a difficult job to undertake.
LOL at his comment about the "lovely" HT!

I wouldn't mind Dane Senor or Tory Clarke, but Clarke said she wouldn't do it.

I think he'd do a great job but I wouldn't blame him for turning it down.

Personally, I'd like to see Ann Coulter get the job.

First, Tony, you already have a career. This job is simply a stepping-stone to something you already have.
Second, this is almost certainly a significant pay cut. Why?
Third, the working conditions suck.
Fourth, you have to deal with assholes. Every day.
Fifth, go back to "first".

I think Tony should respectfully decline the position for many reasons.
Living life in the fast lane won't be easy on him or his family. And then, there is his private life to consider. For example, he couldn't continue to post at FR or speak for himself.. as himself.
It's too confining..just say No, Tony :)

How about Bill Parcells? He's been know to tell a reporter "That's a stupid question..." when the time is appropriate.

I can't see how any sane person would want that job.

I know that Tony would do a bang up job as WH press secretary and support his choice however he decides. The one thing I want to see in the new secretary is an emphasis on respect and professionalism from the reporters being given the opportunity to ask questions. Too many of the press have gotten the idea that these conferences are about them and they show off and are smart alecky to the degree that they do little to enlighten the public about anything of substance. I see no reason for follow up questions because they use the first one for a speech and the second to argue the answer. Give more reporters a chance to participate and cut off the ones who are openly belligerent and 'gotcha' oriented. Scott played his role well for what the administration wanted but we are moving to a new phase and it will be better implemented with a new face that the press will have to adapt to. Good luck to whoever takes the job.

I think we need Tony unencumbered by loyalty and unmuzzled by the administration. I always look forward to his analysis - I'd hate not to have it.
