NEW YORK — More Americans disapprove than approve of how George W. Bush, Donald Rumsfeld and Congress are doing their jobs, while a majority approves of Condoleezza Rice. President Bush’s approval hits a record low of 33 percent this week, clearly damaged by sinking support among Republicans.
Opinions are sharply divided on whether Rumsfeld should resign as secretary of defense. In addition, views on the economy are glum; most Americans rate the current economy negatively, and twice as many say it feels like the economy is getting worse rather than better. These are just some of the findings of the latest FOX News national poll.
President Bush’s job approval rating slipped this week and stands at a new low of 33 percent approve, down from 36 percent two weeks ago and 39 percent in mid-March. A year ago this time, 47 percent approved and two years ago 50 percent approved (April 2004).

I cannot believe that the WH allowed the liberal media's daily manipulation to go on for so long.

they asked their biased questions based on false premises and to show the WH's response to their set up-
they would show McClellan stumbling and fumbling through the answer.
It was the classic- " Has the President stopped beating his wife ? " every... single... day..
and McClellan's bungled response would not only confirm their false story, but, make it seem far worse.
The next spokesman better be capable of taking the gloves off and calling the media on their daily lies, distortions and outright propaganda.
It is sickening that the WH was asleep at the media switch for these past two and a half years.

Only problem with that is republicans control the executive and both houses of congress. Blaming people who aren't in power isn't going to fly.
Imagine if the roles were reversed. Imagine the dems control the white house and congress. If they tried to blame anything on the republicans they'd get laughed at.
If we try to blame democrats we will get laughed at. And rightly so.
We would have a far better chance of explaining that one political party and one president just don't have that much control over the price of a gallon of gas.

In the case of our economy, one might reasonably expect that perceptions would vary (by orders of magnitude inversely proportional to sample size) in both directions; positive and negative. What we see though, is a consistent negative bias, which is a fair description, as it turns out, for the influence of the mainstream media in shaping people's opinions about the economy, and about much else as well.

I don't care about the history or origin of a particular communicable disease. I just care that any one entering from a foreign country is checked for it before they enter this country, let alone work around food. No one is checking the illegals who as we type may be spreading all kinds of foreign strains of disease through the food chain.
I agree in principle, but the vote tanking (thank goodness) on the Immigration Bill was because of the usual Harry Reid obstruction and grandstanding. As usual we get things through the house (like ANWR) and the senate is blocked time and again by Reid and the RINO's, our problem really lies in the Senate more than anything because the dems are controlled by the radical environmentalists and too many RINO Senators are beholden to the same groups.
Conservatives are definitely abandoning President Bush because of several policy disagreements. Mainly his view on illegals. I don't believe there is a vanishing Republican base. It's still around and from most I talk to, they don't intend to vote for Dims because of their disagreements with the President. The Dims are in disarrays also. There are two camps in the Dim Party that are fighting it out for control of the party. I see this even at the local level. When in every other election the Dim party would pick and slate who they wanted to run for local offices there is now two (2) factions fighting for control. In almost every case there are opponents running against incumbent office holders. Things are not as bad for the Republican House and Senate candidates as the media would like for you to believe. It's perfectly alright for us to fight it out within our party for what we believe in but I believe it is decremental to our cause to vote for Democrats or to stay home and not vote at all.
That was a bizarre thing for Bush (or anyone) to say. An early sign of more weirdness to come.

Agree completely.
But that base is not enough. It's the swing voters who decide national elections.
Right now the swing voters are thinking (sorry, I love analogies) "Okay, republicans. I gave you the keys to the car. I put you behind the wheel. Now we're lost, and you want me to let you keep driving?"
We better have an answer. And it better be something besides "It's that democrat in the back seat's fault!"
