England fans urged to chant in German
LONDON (Reuters) - England fans are being encouraged to learn the German versions of well known football chants before the World Cup.
In its package of travel tips for fans at the month-long tournament, the Foreign Office is to provide handy singalong translations on its website www.britishembassyworldcup.com.
"Those football fans who wish to learn the English songs in German to sing at the World Cup can do so and the Foreign Office will help them do that," a spokesman said.
"We are not sure when they will go up on the site and which chants will be chosen," he added.
The Sun, stepped eagerly into the breach with a two-page World Cup song sheet.
Inevitably that included a translation of "5-1 5-1" -- England's winning margin against Germany in a World Cup qualifying match in 2001.
Ping!
Big deal, it's pretty much the same language.
They should chant this:
Wenn ist das Nunstruck git und Slotermeyer? Ja!...
Beiherhund das Oder die Flipperwaldt gersput!
Sounds like Monty Python's "Killer Joke" sketch.
See #4
Yep, this should stop the annual soccer riots.
They should chant, "To be polite, we chant "screw you Germans" in German".
I'm too slow today, Good one.
Funnier that Britain's Pre-War joke.
(Sung to a polka groove)
Slaughterhouse Five!
Lufthansa (in German): "Ground, what is our start clearance time?"
Ground (in English): "If you want an answer you must speak in English."
Lufthansa (in English): "I am a German, flying a German airplane, in Germany. Why must I speak English?"
Unknown voice from another plane (in a beautiful British accent): "Because you lost the bloody war."
Don't England fans usually chant 'Two world wars and one world cup'?
"My dog has no nose."
"How does he smell?"
"Awful."
So....next time you're in France, you ask somebody:
American to Frenchie: "Do you speak German?"
Frenchie: "No."
American: "You're welcome."
I can't stop laughing... oh, oh , clutching my heart, I wish you hadn't printed the killer jo
Which would be dumb to chant now since Germany has two World Cups to England's one.
LOL. Thanks. I obviously haven't been paying attention.
