yes.. gay meant carefree & happy & I had several good freinds named gay..
I think gay is rather a "slang" and offensive term to the homosexual community however.. but still the stigma is there.
Had some fascinating things happend today. Prostate Cancer support group was great. One of the "members/participants" is the former team physicial for the Cleveland Indians (for 30 years).. he showed off his championship ring (YES, OF COURSE I TOOK PIX) - oh, did he have stories to tell & had us in stitches!

In England it is their preferred term they use and most of the hetrosexual community use it as well so any other usage of the word is out.
