Oh no Con Ed is just an electric plant.
Never fear, the MSM and every liberal leaning newspaper are going out of their way to publicize them. Even though country radio won't play them, TV studios are awestruck by them. No wonder I'm watching less and less TV.
I've copied those words, enlarged and printed them for framing. Hubby would never believe it could be said of me otherwise (laughing).
Con Ed (Consolidated Edison Co.) is not a power plant, it is a utility that owns a variety of power plants.

Even within the command at some ports, there was disagreement about the best approach. The port captain in San Francisco, Capt. William J. Rising crime is threatening democratic development and slowing economic growth across Central America and Mexico. Gang activity has transcended the borders of Central America, Mexico, and the United States and evolved into a transnational concern that demands a coordinated, multi-national response to effectively combat increasingly sophisticated criminal gang networks.

West Bank Terrorist State

West Bank Terrorist State By R. JAMES WOOLSEY
What does one say to a good ally who seems determined to reinforce failure? That the U.S. will pay for the undertaking?
Israel's Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is in Washington, where he will be asking for advice and assistance in financing the withdrawal of 50,000 to 100,000 Israeli settlers from 90% to 95% of the West Bank and major portions of Jerusalem, and for the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) to be repositioned largely near the security barrier Israel is constructing. Most Americans are inclined to believe that such disengagement may be a reasonable step toward a two-state solution, even if some territorial disputes remain to be negotiated. It is also widely assumed that Palestinian hostility to Israel is fueled by despair that can only be reduced by Israeli concessions. Both assumptions, however, may be fundamentally flawed.
The approach Israel is preparing to take in the West Bank was tried in Gaza and has failed utterly. The Israeli withdrawal of last year has produced the worst set of results imaginable: a heavy presence by al Qaeda, Hezbollah and even some Iranian Revolutionary Guard units; street-fighting between Hamas and Fatah and now Hamas assassination attempts against Fatah's intelligence chief and Jordan's ambassador; rocket and mortar attacks against nearby towns inside Israel; and a perceived vindication for Hamas, which took credit for the withdrawal. This latter almost certainly contributed substantially to Hamas's victory in the Palestinian elections.
...............
Israel is not the only pro-Western country that would be threatened. How does moderate Jordan, with its Palestinian majority, survive if bordered by a West Bank terrorist state? Israeli concessions will also make the U.S. look weak

"Chinese warships trained weapons on Japan's SDF aircraft: Pentagon"

Chinese warships trained weapons on Japan's SDF aircraft: Pentagon
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "(Kyodo) _ Chinese warships trained weapons on Japanese surveillance aircraft monitoring a disputed Chinese gas field in the East China Sea in a weapons drill last fall, the U.S. Defense Department said Tuesday in an annual report on China's military capabilities.
The Pentagon said in the 50-page report that the incident was one of the key developments over the past year underscoring China's continuing activities to build up and modernize its military beyond its interests over Taiwan to secure its interests deeper into the Pacific.
The Chinese military expansion and modernization "is already such as to alter regional military balances," and has become a "credible threat to modern militaries operating in the region," the Pentagon said, reiterating concern expressed in past reports over opaque Chinese activities.
According to Japanese government sources last October, a Chinese military vessel pointed a gun at a Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force PC-3 surveillance plane in early September near the site of the Chinese Chunxiao gas field, the subject of a dispute with Japan.
The ship -- a missile frigate -- was one of the five Chinese naval vessels spotted by the MSDF aircraft, and it pointed a 100-milimeter coaxial gun placed at its bow toward the plane, the sources said, calling it an act of intimidation.
But the Pentagon report said Chinese Navy vessels "trained their weapons" on the aircraft last fall as part of a drill. ADVERTISEMENT
The report did not give any other details, but said the incident caused China-Japan tensions in the East China Sea stemming from Chinese resource concerns to flare."

Israeli advice on the Mexico fence: be ruthless
Haaretz.com ^ | 23/05/2006 | n/a
Posted on 05/23/2006 7:25:12 PM PDT by 1ofmanyfree
(excerpted...) Tactics: Don't just rely on sophisticated machinery and equipment. You need people on the ground using the equipment to pursue the invaders. They need to react fast, they need intelligence, and they need to be tireless. It will only take a couple of months before the flow of immigrants will become much weaker.
Intelligence: Recruit people on the Mexican side to be your eyes and ears and to tell you what the smugglers are up to. Make sure you can communicate fast, and react even faster. Good intelligence can be the key factor for success.
Routine: The smugglers will be inventive and will look for ways around you. If you stick to some regulated routine, you'll end up wasting your time and your money. Surprise them where they don't expect you, make them understand that no place is safe, no route out of reach. "Don't police them, fight them."
Ruthlessness: Is it really important for the Americans? If it is, they should be prepared to show it. "Make the other side understand that this is no game - that life can be in danger," says the expert. "I know this is the toughest advice of all, but short of doing it the Americans will end up pretending to stop illegal immigrants rather than really doing it.
At the end of the day, it is very simple: America is more powerful than the smugglers - meaning, it can deter them from doing what they do." But there's one condition necessary to keep this preponderance of power working:
"It should be as important for America to stop the illegal new comers as it is for them to come."

"Iran test-fires long-range missile"
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Iran conducted a test launch Tuesday night of the Shihab-3 intermediate-range ballistic missile, which is capable of reaching Israel and US targets in the region, Israel Radio reported. The test came hours before Prime Minister Ehud Olmert met with US President George W Bush in Washington to discuss the Iranian threat.
Military officials said it was not clear if this most recent test indicated an advance in the capabilities of the Shihab 3. They said the test was likely timed to coincide with the Washington summit and with comments made by Hizbullah leader Hassan Nasrallah during celebrations in Beirut marking the 6th anniversary of Israel's withdrawal from southern Lebanon.

"What deters the enemy from launching an aggression is the resistance's continuous readiness to respond," Nasrallah told scores of supporters. "Northern Israel today is within the range of the resistance's rockets. The ports, bases, factories and everything is within that range."
The Shihab test was only "partly successful," according to news reports. The nature of the difficulties was not clear. The Iranians have been working to extend the Shihab 3's current maximum range of 1,300 kilometers. A year ago, they successfully tested a solid fuel motor for the missile."

Pakistan, China sign $600 million defence deal
http://www.india-defence.com/reports/1970 ^

Islamabad: Pakistan has clinched a USD 600-million defence deal with China, which includes construction of four F22P frigates for the Pakistani Navy, upgradation of the Karachi dockyard and transfer of technology for indigenous production of modern surface fleet.
The deal has been finalised and the keel for construction of the F-22P frigates would be laid at the Hudong-Zhonghua shipyard in Shanghai this year, chief of Pakistan Navy, Admiral Muhammad Afzal Tahir, who concluded a week-long visit China yesterday, told the state-run APP.
Under the deal, three frigates would be built in Shanghai and the fourth one would be constructed at Karachi dockyard which would also be upgraded to enable Pakistan to build its own fleet of frigates later.
Tahir said the first frigate would be delivered to Pakistan in 2008 and the other three by 2013 along with transfer of technology.
The frigates would be equipped with organic helicopters specially designed for surface-to-surface and surface-to-air missiles along with numerous associated self-defence systems, he said, adding that the "modalities of design and configuration are at the final stages."

Iran fires back at Saudi Arabia over nuke warning
Iran Focus ^ | 23MAY06 | Iran Focus

Tehran, Iran, May 23 Iran dismissed on Tuesday remarks by Saudi Arabian officials over its controversial nuclear activities as unreal.
Saudi officials had raised concerns that Tehrans nuclear program might have a military dimension and that it could spark a regional arms race.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi said in a statement that he was astonished by the Saudi position.
Iran has never been after development of a nuclear bomb and has no need for it either, Asefi said.
We expect Saudi officials to not to be influenced by others false claims, he added.
It seems some have forgotten the nuclear arms of the Zionist regime and instead are trying to put pressure on Iran because it insists on its right to make peaceful use of nuclear energy, he said.
Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal said last week that Persian Gulf states would send an envoy to Iran shortly to try to persuade it to forgo nuclear weapons.
