In the angry life of Maryscott O'Connor, the rage begins as soon as she opens her eyes and realizes that her president is still George W. Bush... Out there, awaiting her building fury: the Angry Left, where O'Connor's reputation is as one of the angriest of all. "One long, sustained scream" is how she describes the writing she does for various Web logs...
---------------snip----------------------
What's notable about this isn't only the level of anger but the direction from which it is coming. Not that long ago, it was the right that was angry and the left that was, at least comparatively, polite. But after years of being the targets of inflammatory rhetoric, not only from fringe groups but also from such mainstream conservative politicians as Newt Gingrich, the left has gone on the attack. And with Republicans in control of Washington, they have much more to be angry about.
"Powerlessness" is O'Connor's explanation. "This is born of powerlessness..."

"I am this close to being one of those muttering people pushing a cart. "
"I'm insane with rage and grief."
When her 6 yr old son comes home from school, does she give him milk and cookies ?
Nah... She puts Network into the tv and makes him watch it, while she screams at him to get mad. The poor kid backs out of the room.
The gold standard of the Democrat Party is a 37 yr old , chain smoking " former " alcoholic who is a verbally abusive mother and self described mental case.
This is a no brainer .
We didn't need the Washington Post to flesh out the details of the left- their writings do it for them.
Rush was right. These people are much more entertaining when they are out of power.
Fould mouthed little thing ain't she? Does she kiss her son with that mouth?
"...Put another way, can one person sitting alone in a living room, typing her fingertips numb on a keyboard, make a difference?"
Oh yes Mr. Finkel they sure can. Just take a look at the results of the 2004 election.
I predict that "united 93" will be in the top 5 movie grosses of the year and see the possibility of the silent majority coming out in droves and creating numbers like the last movie that raised the silent majoritiy's interest: "The Passion"
Limbaugh has observed that, increasingly, "emotional satisfaction" has become a substitute for "victory" on the left.
I believe that is what you are describing...and what is going on in Maryscott's disturbed psyche.
LOL!
I just finished reading the article's 6 pages.
I love your comments and I think this modern Left, looks an awful lot like ole Saul Alinsky's, with his disciple Hillary at the helm.
Yeah. I wonder if the "non" in the phrase "non-alcoholic beer" was added by the journalist.
Wouldn't be prudent to be seen drinking a beer first thing in the morning.
Come to think of it, it wouldn't seem prudent to be seen drinking a non-alcoholic beer first thing in the morning either...
Don't forget that Bush wired the WTC for controlled demolition.
Read this.
Well, for her, that would be "always a little less than half empty." :-)
You have to pity the poor boy. This is likely (unless he is a lucky fellow) going to be generation 3 of mental problems
Mother (depression through grief) -> her (o/c and emotional instability) -> her son (who knows, but probably similar)
I'm afraid I'll have to disagree. My personal experience is that many of my Dem friends will launch into impromptu tirades against Bush and Republicans in general at the slightest opportunity. The weird thing is we'll be talking about everything but politics (sports, etc.) , and then they go bonkers...leaving me puzzled. Most of their outrage centers on their feelings of life being unfair to them. Someone has more money than they do, and it's just not "fair". Facts are absent in their "arguments", it's just something they "feel".
Exactly. There is a hole in their lives that needs to be filled with something, and this political obsession is it.
Its an understandable obsession, to a degree. People do genuinely suffer emotionally sometimes, and they need to find something to repair their feelings.
Conservatives in this condition typically find God instead.
"He who does not believe in God will believe in anything"
- Chesterton
She was an alcoholic, and obsessive-compulsive to boot. Sometimes people like this adopt some strange coping behaviors.
these nutcases are the ones who give Howard Dean a reason to run.
The Left is not supposed to have power --- and neither is the Right.
The voters have the power, Ms. O'Connor, and they decided that your Democrats were unsatisfactory public servants who should no longer serve them.
Some building is missing it's Gargoyle!
