First, Secure our borders.
CNN ^ | April 10, 2006 | Lou Dobbs

First, secure our borders

Editor's note: Arnold Schwarzenegger was invited to appear on "Lou Dobbs Tonight" to discuss immigration, but he declined.

California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger today called our current immigration system "bad policy" in a Wall Street Journal editorial.

As the leader of the largest border state on the frontline of the illegal immigration crisis, Gov. Schwarzenegger today for the first time partially adopted the position I've advocated for the past two years: First, secure our borders, then deal with the illegal immigration crisis.

I've repeatedly called for immigration overhaul that's humane, reasonable and effective.

I have said straightforwardly that we cannot reform immigration law and policy if we cannot control immigration. And we cannot control immigration if we cannot secure our borders and our ports.

Shamelessly pandering to the readership of the Wall Street Journal editorial pages, Gov. Schwarzenegger invokes Ronald Reagan's name to declare that we can have immigration policies that both strengthen our borders and welcomes immigrants.

No, Governor, we can't. National security requires that we control our borders and our ports. So does a rational, humane and effective immigration policy. Both flow from secure borders

First, secure our borders. Dobbs is more Republican than Gov. Arnuld.

I've broken my CNN boycott to watch Dobbs. He is doing a service on immigration but seem to be traditional MSM on all other issues.

Both our The Republican President & Republican Senate Majority Leader endorsed the McKennedy Amnesty Bill before implementation of a lock-down on our borders!

Now Mexicans are invading our country almost at will in order to get in line for their amnesty and voter registration!

In fact the border security issue should be a separate bill divorced from any of the other immigration issues. That's the only way we'll get something out of this mess.

I still hesitate to completely welcome Dobbs as an ally. He's right on this one, but all his hectoring about outsourcing is not just annoying, but economically incorrect. We've got MORE jobs back from India than we've sent there.

And last week he said that we shouldn't even celebrate St. Patrick's Day here, that's just as bad as waving a Mexican flag at a pro-illegal rally. Uh... dude. Ireland isn't sitting right next door pumping its overflow population into our country.

Lou Dobbs hasn't changed on the immigration matter; he has been beating this drum for quite a long time now, just no one was listening. I had switched to Fox to watch Brit Hume, but in light of this *crisis* I have returned to Lou.....

BTW he isn't a one trick pony, he is also very conservative and constantly beats up on members of the administration over spending and outsourcing.

Me too. And you have Dobbs about right, though he's better than some such as Chris Matthews.

Now, Brit Hume I like a lot, although he's more of a newsman than a commentator or activist, even though he clearly leans right.

And I actually think that if you give the "straight news" with a slant, that's more effective. Just look at the careers of Dan Rather and Peter Jennings...

Had the new media been around, these three would have had much shorter careers. Network news enjoyed massive influence for decades and pushed their agenda since before WWII.

Governator Ping!

Lou's right. Secure the borders. Then try to come to grips with the illegals on this side.

IKelly,

So far you are the only one upset by the postings. I only endorse the idea of the brick, and feel that it is a great idea to get congress off of their butts and to listen to the people. Got any better ideas??

I don't see anything on that site asking for anyone's money or billing info. They're just telling people to send bricks and giving them the information they need to do it.
