I loved the style of thier rifles - and own a little brush rifle in 45 colt...but the lever actions were just too sloppy.....My marlin 45/70 has a much more refined mechanism
Of course Im speaking post '64.....anyone out there able to speak to pre 64 actions ?

mayor's office has been searching for an investor, who would take over the plant, but has to overcome several obstacles on the way to achieving this goal. Someone with no brain and a hundred million dollars we can spit on and sue till the cows come home.
my first firearm was a 94ae.

... the celebrated lever-action 1873 gun that ... helped conquer the West. Dang evil White people. If we'd left well-enough alone, there'd be enough gambling casinos in the West now
that illegal immigration wouldn't be a problem, the federal government would have a surplus, global warming
would not be on the verge of killing us, all the little birds and fishes would no longer poop on the pristine
environment, no one would need health insurance because everyone would be so healthy...

The sad part is that they'll go the route of companies like Singer or Schwinn or Westinghouse or Sorel (yeah, I know they were Canadian) and lot's more; some chinese firm will buy the name and put it all over the new plastic products and include something like "Since 1898".

I see that you took the title of the post from the first sentence in the story.
I understand why, for dramatic purposes, this was the language used, but a story in the latest issue of "Guns & Ammo" states that there are some five million 94's out there, including one at the OldPossum's house. So, this piece of Americana certainly hasn't fired its "last shot."

FN owned USRAC. Olin owns the Winchester brand name. As of now, only the European (FN) manufactured Winchester products will be available for sale. The unions made USRAC unprofitable. Olin still uses the Winchester brand name on the ammo they manufacture. They could bestow the brand name on another manufacturer of lever guns if someone wants to do it again.
I like my Marlin 45-70 (1895G) just fine. A real Winchester 30-30 level action would be a fine addition to the collection.

Winchester made a BIG mistake along about 1964 when they quit making their butter-smooth Model 70 rifles domestically. The foreign-made ones just never could quite measure up.
They never really recovered from that.
