Don't you get it? Need I spell it out for you? All that has been entered into the arena so far is the name "Goldwater" and look at what that name polls alone. Immigration is a BIG issue in AZ and Goldwater is as tough as they come on it while Nappy just looks or ways to avoid the issue while sounding tough on it at the same time. With Goldwater no one knows who he is or were he stands on the issues, so at this point that will be a big advantage for any incumbent at first.

Once Goldwater becomes the chosen *candidate* and attracts the funds to mount a campaign other factors other than name recognition comes into play...one being immigration. No one issue would not be enough by themselves, but when combined in Nov with name recognition Nappy will be in a world of hurt and she knows it. Best she can do is enjoy the poll numbers why they last in the here-and-now because they will be totally diffent in the home stretch.

If she vetos the bill on arresting illegals for trespassing, she will be in big trouble.

Hey, you're the one who claimed: "I have no idea which poll they are referring to there, most likely a Dem poll. The ones I have seen have her and Don in a dead heat which is bad news for her because he isn't campainging yet."

I simply pointed out the recent polls by Rasmussen (20 point lead) and Zogby (11 point lead) that have Napolitano pretty far ahead, and asked what polls you had seen showing them "in a dead heat." The only one you cited was one from last September that showed Napolitano with only a two point lead.

As far as the issue of name recognition goes, you're assuming that Goldwater will get even higher poll numbers once voters know something beyond his name. Another way to look at it is that this could be Goldwater's high water mark. Since everybody knows his name, that's what they are voting on for now. Once they get to know his stances, his support could drop. Talk to the Republicans in Pennsylvania. They are counting on that happening in the Senate race with Democract Bob Casey, son of the former popular governor with the same name, who currently holds a big lead over Rick Santorum.
