FOX News Alert: U.S. Marines in Afghanistan Open Operation Mountain Lion
FOX News Cable | April 12, 2006

Posted on 04/12/2006 1:45:28 AM PDT by the_Watchman

The U.S. military has announced that the largest air assualt in 4 years in Afghanistan is underway in Kunar province. It was kicked off 15 hours ago, but a news embargo was imposed. An attempt has been made to keep the Al Queda and Taliban opposition contained so that they will not escape.

Several thousand coalition soldiers are involved. The exit passes are being held since it was believed that too many opposition forces escaped during the previous Operation Anaconda.

They debated on Fox onw morning how the country would react to the capture or killing of Bin Laden...one of the F&F morning crew said it would be no big deal.... Brian Kilamede said it would become a quasi-national holiday.

I wonder what people would prefer; take him dead, or alive or either?

Heck, we know the liberals would say "leave him be".

I challenge you to go to Ft. Hood and tell them they are wusses when it comes to war. (Can you see me rolling my eyes? )

Yea, and the navigators who drop bombs from planes have to talk to military lawyers in the US on the phone before they drop on new targets.

I think channel-surfing is the modern equivalent of "scanning the horizon, looking for prey."

Kunar is the area where we lost that SEAL team and their rescuers. And I remember reading Kunar is the area where two groups where tracked coming from back in January... and one of those groups...turned out to be the traveling party Zawahiri was going to meet in Damadola.

how the country would react to the capture or killing of Bin Laden

The people who have criticized the fact that he is not captured yet will say it is no big deal. The people who have been downplaying it will finally say that it's important. The people who capture/kill him will say... "Who's next?"

I personally hope Bin Laden dies a relatively slow, painful death, knowing it was an American servicemember who delivered the fatal blow.

I hope al-Zawahiri is captured alive, given a thorough physical (complete with white glove) captured on video, interrogated by a non-U.S. nation (but with U.S. "observers" nearby), and then killed in a tragic accident involving bacon grease and a tree shredder.

Easter Sunday....4/16/06 is the day it is announced we killed Binny.

For all you DU'ers out there Cheney has Bin Laden in his walk-in cooler....next to the roast beef.

I am continually amazed at your recall of place names and players in this war. Thanks for the information!

They had a short clip of Greg Palcott on Fox a few minutes ago. He was with the Marines.

Where, by the way, is Steve Harrigan? Has he gone to another network?

I guess. On this issue I am definitely in touch with my feminine side. Channel surfers of either gender annoy me!
