FOX News Alert: U.S. Marines in Afghanistan Open Operation Mountain Lion
FOX News Cable | April 12, 2006

Posted on 04/12/2006 1:45:28 AM PDT by the_Watchman

The U.S. military has announced that the largest air assualt in 4 years in Afghanistan is underway in Kunar province. It was kicked off 15 hours ago, but a news embargo was imposed. An attempt has been made to keep the Al Queda and Taliban opposition contained so that they will not escape.

Several thousand coalition soldiers are involved. The exit passes are being held since it was believed that too many opposition forces escaped during the previous Operation Anaconda.

With towers of courage and can-do spirit like you around, who needs enemy propagandists?

Not to defend his comments here, but have you read his profile? Talk about courage and a can-do spirit!

I hear women are better at multi-tasking.

Yeah, just ask any woman.

"The U.S. military has announced that the largest air assualt in 4 years in Afghanistan is underway in Kunar province. It was kicked off 15 hours ago, but a news embargo was imposed." OK, but when is a news embargo a news embargo?

What women have (besides multi-tasking) in greater nnumbers is stamina. When we got into this war I knew we were in it for the long haul (since I listened to and believed the President). OBL will eventually be captured, whether in this operation or not. At some point he is going to make a mistake, or someone will get tired of living in caves and dirt-floor huts and turn him in.

Men are by nature more impatient and tend to move on to other tasks (think channel surfing..LOL).

That would explain the powerful approval numbers among women for the war on terror. < / sarcasm > :-D

LOL! You got me there!

Actually, I think women supported the war in far fewer numbers to begin with. And a great many women do not follow the news, certainly not on the internet.

I have three sisters, and am the only one who pays attention to this stuff. One sister only uses the computer for e-mail and e-bay, one rarely uses it unless she needs to look up hotel reservations or something like that, and one sister doesn't even own a computer and calls ME when she needs to have information off the Internet.

I guess what I would say is that men in general are single-minded and don't multi-task, but a great many women are either uninformed or bow to peer pressure.

There...I have evenly insulted both sexes!

See, those qualities I view as being a "natural born leader".

It's kind of interesting when viewing the sexes as the "hunters and gatherers," which is extremely accurate IMHO when viewing how we shop. (Hey Mo, where's that funny shopping graphic of yours?) It would be intuitive, then, to think women would be bouncing from channel to channel (gathering, multi-tasking), while men remained focused on one (going in for the kill, unngghh!). However, I do believe the "men channel surfing" stereotype is correct.

You are right about his capture or death would have an important impact on the arabs in the street. Not to mention how it would make us here in the U.S. feel.
He has been moving around to different places and I am not sure the pakistanis and afganis are helping us. We are wusses when it comes down to war in reality. Were it the Chi-coms they would just destroy any village they thought harbored him. Making an example. It it right? NO, but effective.

Be pretty wild if it turns out to be a U.S. female sniper (do they have those?) who takes out Osama. The irony, after what his Taliban did to women. In either case, I hope they put his head on a spike on the White House lawn and give Helen Thomas a front row seat.

The Marines impose a news embargo.

Best news I've heard all day.
