Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi is on course to win a majority of seats in the country's upper house following a general election, according to exit polls.

Pollsters also say early returns indicate his centre-right bloc may take the lower house too.

A government needs to control both chambers to take office and pass laws.

So far returns have suggested he is losing, he is winning, and that it is too close to call.

I remember in 2004 being despondent all afternoon because of exit polls. I don't trust them.

Ah, the fondness of 2004. I was in an Ohio county campaign office making phone calls all morning and doing a GOTV thing in the afternoon. When I got there I heard the rumors about the fraud in PA buzzing around from what was on the news (which I still think happened. That state should've been Bush in 04). never once did any of us hear the exit polls, which kept our moral up. That was a great event and experience in my life. . . thanks for making me remember and not feel so down about 2006!

Who woulda thunk it BUMP! The same tactics the liberal MSM used here with their exit polling in 2004. In 2000 they called FL for Gore while voting was still taking place in the panhandle which is on Central Time.

Look, mate -- exit polls are the punter's best friend, as was demonstrated here on Election Day 2004 by both Right_Wing_Professor and yr hmbl srvnt.

The thing you want very much to see is some sort of early exit poll that is obviously skewed, as was the case at roughly 1:30pm CST in 2004.

Then, you simply hop onto tradesports.com (or your favourite equivalent site) and fade the polls. You don't necessarily stay in until the results are known (I didn't; RWP did), but the whole point here is that, in every skew are the seeds of its own deskewing. In other words, the skew is going to vanish to at least SOME extent before the final result is known.

It's just money for jam, m'friend.

This is too funny! ONLY the American Liberal Media Establishment would even print ANYTHING about exit polls. Since they knew their "Exit Poll Story" would be available all over the world, they no doubt were trying to discourage Italian Voters from voting at all. It's more proof that Liberals the world over will stop at nothing to destroy opponents and preserve their power.

Very little doubt about it.

Liberals drink their own whiskey too much.

Their bias clouds all things.

I'll know Berlusconi won reelection tonight if I hear nothing about the Italian election on the MSM newscast.
