FYI this doesn't seem to be a "press conference" per se; the President is taking questions from what appears to be an audience of students.I thought something wasn't right about this - none of the hectoring and badgering and repeat after repeat of the same questions about Valerie Plame and why are you going to nuke Iran?
Pretty sad when you realize a group of students asks better questions and behaves itself better than the MSM.

If you think otherwise, you're waaay out of touchGee, is that why there's so many more china and trade deficit threads on FR?

I think the president said one of the issues on American's minds...don't take my quick notes too literally for every single word the president said.

Gee, is that why there's so many more china and trade deficit threads on FR? If you think FR postings are indicative of the mood of the country at large, you're even more out of touch than I thought.

You're welcome. FNC reported it would be a 2+ hour Q&A event; too bad everyone opted out so quickly.

Maybe. Much better questions asked by students than Old Media.

President: "Yes, but first, have I mentioned recently how an ugly warthog in a dress is more appealing to men than Helen Thomas is on a good day?" LOL, if only it were true!

"President: The issue on most American's minds is the issue of China. " Nope. It's the lawless illegal alien mobs marching up and down our streets.
I've called my senators, Sessions & Shelby again this morning express my displeasure. I know, Sessions & Shelby have generally voted correctly. I say, put the pressure on and keep it on though.
If I learn that either are in town anywhere publically, I'll be there in their face too.

Democracy will eventually allow them to live side by side in peace.No. That has been tried. It's now time for strike jets loaded with napalm and some Kentucky Fried Palestinians.
The little bastards cheered 9/11; they cheer when Israeli schoolkids get blown up - to hell with them.

So the media complains when the President doesn't hold enough press conferences, and when he does hold them, they don't carry them. Classic.

Elections are the beginning of the process and the election of Hamas was very instructive. It was the final culmination of the Arafat era and we don't want corruption. They want health care and better attention to the interests of their people. A government that has announced they want to destroy Israel .... Democracy will eventually allow them to live side by side in peace.
Anyone who is optimistic about the Middle East has to be a little suspect. We all understand that it is one thing for Hamas to blow things up in Israel and be popular. It is another to be in a position where they are expected to make things better for the people that elected them. The last government was tossed because they were viewed as corrupt. I guess Bush believes that if they don't work, they will be voted out and further believes Hamas understands this. Ergo, they will change.
Some of us think they will simply eliminate (or adopt the Sadaam style of) elections thereby continuing to blame Israel and the West for there being no money and no hope, pretty much business as usual but now Hamas has nicer offices to build bombs.
I think his theory is right but I do not understand why he believes there is a structure in place that will guarentee the democratic process necessary (i.e., free elections) to force Hamas to change.
