One of his citizen/s tried to assassinate him in the last couple of days. Of course, W was blamed for it. So he's continuing his wage against this attempt by saying he'll expel our US Ambassador. That's clearly at the root of our current relationship with Venezuela.

Can't decide whether that means we're doing exactly the right thing - with what's evidently a formal unspoken US policy of benign neglect of (all) Latin America - or doing exactly the wrong thing by the policy, which amounts to a complete abrogation of the Monroe Doctrine.

You hit the nail on the head. Whenever this clown's domestic numbers go down (no controversy lately, they must be going down) he reverts to beating his anti-US drum. Kind of reminds me of Schroeder's and Chirac's tactics, and you see where that got them.
