"I agree with you - I hope you didn't think I was buying the abortion argument."

I understand completely. You were simply challenging my claim that flawed judgment in one aspect does not necessarilly shift to others. I respect your view, but I do disagree in extreme instances, such as murdering innocents [which the Phelps clan does not belong to].

Now, regarding Phelps and his "God hates .... eh ...'Figs'" movement, crashing military funerals, etc. I would hope that a man who defends the dignity of a military funeral would be pardoned, period. Unfortunately, the right to a dignified military funeral does not yet exhist. IMHO, it will take a constitutional amendment to stop the Phelps clan. In the meantime, our Founding Fathers would tell us exactly what to do about Phelps.

"Bush never said he was hardline regarding Mexico. Oh, but he did -- and he is!"

Hardline as jello.

"a potential rival of frist"

I think frist has pretty much cut himself out of the picture for any presidential run. He always manages to run his mouth and then cowers before the opposition.

[Formatted for clarity]

No, no... hard as rock.

Remember, "regarding" is "values-neutral" -- it is not a term that connotes either "for" or "against" -- it applies with equal validity to either condition.

Get it now?

I think frist has pretty much cut himself out of the picture for any presidential run. He always manages to run his mouth and then cowers before the opposition.

So what.

How quickly we forget.

Remember that "dynamic leader" known as "bobdole"? Talk about limp-noodle, sheesh! The guy actually made a living marketing his impotence! Yet, The Party put him up to run against The Mother of All Political Predators, Slick Willie.

WHY did The Party throw that raw meat to the enemy?

Simple. The "G"OP is run like a countryclub (surprise surprise). The "patronage system" runs deep, and "bobdole" had "paid his dues", was getting up in years, and, well, by golly, he really wanted one last turn at bat.

How could the good ol' boys, the Gentlemen of the Green, turn down their Loyal Brother bobdole in his time of want?

So what if it was a guaranteed handover of the government to the worst monster ever to occupy the Presidential Palace. If bobdole wanted to run, then bobdole was going to run, end of discussion.

So, if The Party decides to foist Loose-Wrist-Frist on "the base", then all they'll need to do is go, "Boo! What are you going to do, elect Hillary?" -- and "the base" will hold their nose (they've had lots of practice over the years), amble on down to the polling place, and vote "R".

They don't just think they OWN our votes -- they know it.

No one is going to hold their feet to the fire. They've already dispatched The Loyal hither and yon to blither out the "What are you going to do, elect Hillary?" line any time anyone even suggests holding their feet to the fire.

It's all BS.
