I once attended a "service" at a Unitarian/Universalist "church" with a (thankfully) ex-girlfiend.
There wasn't a crucifix to be seen there,and the "sermon" consisted of quotes from those filthy 60's leftists,Daniel and Phillip Berrigan.

Well... the UCC shouldn't be confused with UU - they are very different theologically. Regardless of how different the two may (or may not) be theologically,it looks as if they're on the same page politically.
I often wonder what percentage of the congregants of these leftist denominations are,in fact,atheists at heart.

Theology dies when belief in God dies. This happened in the hierarchy of both denominations long ago.
Whatever official theology is still extant in the two denominations is going to be driven more and more by political expediency.

For the UCC, that is true at the national level. I will defend many of the UCC local churches (who are autonomous from the national office) and say that many are fully grounded.
