The fact that these votes take as long as they do underscores the basic reason why nothing ever gets accomplished in the Senate. I mean how long does it realistically take for 100 people to say yes or no???

Rediculous.

Earlier cloture vote to cut off debate on Hagel/Martinez amendment failed, 38 to 50-some.

Hagel and Martinez voted NO.

Current vote (in progress) is on Frist's version of the border security S2454.

No. They're not ending debate so the bill(s) will be recommitted back to Judiciary to be reconsidered after their recess.

That's what they get for trying to slap this together and push it through. Remember Specter being so proud of himself and his colleagues for being to work on a Monday morning?? The rest of us do that every week. Let's keep the pressure on. Kyl, Cornyn, and Sessions have been excellent at holding the line.

Senators want desperately to get a bill, any bill. Otherwise, they know they are going to get an earful from constituents during their Easter Spring Recess.

Heard on the radio earlier that Senators Cornyn & Hutchison of Texas are both "no" votes on the compromise.

McCain speaking about how the Dems sank the bill by refusing to allow discussion on any amendments.

Kennedy ranting about how it is racist to not allow open borders to enrich our nation.

Graham speaking about how the Senate process is broken (Gee; what was his first clue??)

Are the "hidden bombs" still in the current version? If so, will they stop anyone from voting for it?

We will need a FoxNews Alert as Senators will scurry for the nearest microphones and tv cameras after this vote.

Warning: Move all children and elderly in walkers to safety IMMEDIATELY.

Hurry! Hurry along now, children!

Typical government-in-action: It takes them 30 minutes to finish a 10-minute vote.

Senate now debating a DoD nominee.

Apparently, all 3 versions of the immigration bills are in suspense now -- until after the Spring Recess.

This is all smoke and mirrors. Even if a bill is passed it will be meaningless and no one will try to enforce it.

The bill should be very short and sweet: Illegals out NOW.

Let's hope this version dies a painful and excruciating death in the Senate: NO AMNESTY, Senators!
