Tehran, 7 April (AKI) - The leader of the Iranian Sunni armed group Jund Allah, which is active in Baluchistan province, was killed together with another 11 militants in clashes with Iranian police, Arab daily al-Hayat reported on Friday. Abdel Malik Righi, the head of the armed group considered close to the al-Qaeda terrorist network and to the Taliban, reportedly died during an Iranian police operation along Iran's borders with Afghanistan, in the Sistan Baluchistan province. Iran's interior ministry denied the report.
The semi-official Iranian news agency Fars also reported that the militants' leader had been killed, citing a foreign ministry source.

Well, that's just a crying shame.
Hmmmm.... I remember several AlQueda people that were in IRAQ (I forget the one high profile name) was 'taken out' just prior to invasion. Fears 'he knew too much' had Saddam send out a squad of goons to silence him.
We all know Iran is harboring all kinds of AQ... I just doubt they would throw them away this early, rather than continue to use them as a proxy, just like Saddam did.
Iran may have had to "send a message" to show who is still in charge and just maybe Iran got some "bad intel" on possible "disloyal" activities of this group. Heh, heh, heh!

Perhaps we could work out a "group rate"!
You might be thinking of Abu Nidal, but he wasn't Al Qaeda.
One less holy man........now they are down to 20 millon or so.

Iranian militant?
Sounds like the Iranians snuffed out a rebel?
Are these the same people who tried to assassinate Ahmadinejad?
Notice it says, "close to alQaeda"
This guy sounds more like he was some leader in the Baluch separatist movement. They have become a bigger headache than usual for the regime.
Not to imply that killing alQaeda members is something the regime wouldn't do. They'll kill anyone that gets in the way.
Yup. And involved in kidnappings and assorted other killings. (most likely.)
Another terrorist goes Tango Uniform bump
pong
This does sound more like the Baluchi separatist Sunnis' leader, not AQ, whom Iran shelters in the hundreds perhaps thousands (if you count Arabs among the Basijis).
Baluchistan is a most likely entry point for special forces of all coalition countries acting against Iran. Wild territory with blood related warrior tribes and families on both sides of the Pakistan/Iran border.
They have also kidnaped Iranian border guards and killed a few so Iran had to give them a "darrs-eh ebrat" (teach them a lesson, in English :-)). Plus discourage them from cooperating with "foreign Western forces".
Also as likely is that the Jundallah began interfering with the opium and drug trade across that border and Afghanistan, which is a huge slush fund income for Iranian officials with the brother of the national police chief and Ahmadi-Nejad's colleague, the biggest of all the smugglers.
Talk about inner circle.
