I have been reading a lot about the immigration problem on FR for quite some time now...and I was thinking after reading some of the bonehead ideas from our politicians if it wouldn't be fruitful to require everyone who is elected to the Senate or Congress to take a course on the Constitution and study about the founding father's intent when they wrote it. For that matter I think it should be required curriculum in our schools. I, too was under the false impression that anchor babies exist and are citizens until I actually read some of the articles here.
The average American citizen is probably under that same false notion....because they were never taught the truth.

The Bible has a scripture that says "my people perish for lack of knowledge" this of course is talking about God knowledge. But the same holds true for the average hard working American. If they do not know what is in the constitution itself...then anyone with an agenda can get into Washington and make any law they feel like...be it Constitutional or not. Without knowledge of the Constitution, we are like sheep to the slaughter.

(sigh) Just makes me wonder where we are heading.....

>> The Bible has a scripture that says "my people perish for lack of knowledge" <<

Interesting insight... and by no means a misapplication of principle: The theocracy of Israel failed militarily when its people were weakened by the failure to uphold Mosaic law, which had in its place mechanisms to prevent indenturedness from passing from generation to generation, excessive interest, excessive taxation, "bubble economies," and unassimilating immigration*.

(* Oh, and believe me... you REALLY had to WANT to assimilate! YOUCH! Refugees were always welcomed, but it was considered a fantastic taboo to bring economic migrants in. Such an act was considered akin to committing adultery against God.)

I have been thinking the very same thing. Can God be truly just and merciful while our country kills millions of innocent babies over and over. And not only support abortion but fight for the right. But the list goes on and on doesn't it?
