The second nasty surprise? Just before the committee approved the bill on the evening of March 27, Sen. Richard Durbin (D-Ill.) offered the "DREAM Act" as an amendment. It passed on a voice vote.

The DREAM Act is a nightmare. It repeals a 1996 law that prohibits state universities from offering in-state tuition rates to illegal aliens. The principle, of course, is that no illegal alien should be entitled to receive a taxpayer-subsidized benefit that out-of-state U.S. citizens can't get. But the committee's bill allows illegals to be treated better than those U.S. citizens on tuition.

Tony Snow, Laura Ingraham, Hannity, someone needs to get this man a microphone so he can tell the American people about this.

I have been reading a lot about the immigration problem on FR for quite some time now...and I was thinking after reading some of the bonehead ideas from our politicians if it wouldn't be fruitful to require everyone who is elected to the Senate or Congress to take a course on the Constitution and study about the founding father's intent when they wrote it. For that matter I think it should be required curriculum in our schools. I, too was under the false impression that anchor babies exist and are citizens until I actually read some of the articles here.
The average American citizen is probably under that same false notion....because they were never taught the truth.

The Bible has a scripture that says "my people perish for lack of knowledge" this of course is talking about God knowledge. But the same holds true for the average hard working American. If they do not know what is in the constitution itself...then anyone with an agenda can get into Washington and make any law they feel like...be it Constitutional or not. Without knowledge of the Constitution, we are like sheep to the slaughter.

"Terrorists know how to game the system. Janice Kephart, former counsel to the 9/11 Commission, released a study last year on how easily terrorists obtain immigration benefits. Of 94 alien terrorists in the United States, she found that 59 were successful immigration frauds. That includes six of the 9/11 hijackers.

The Senate bill does nothing to address this problem - while throwing a massive new load on the bureaucracy. A new amnesty will almost certainly ensure that more terrorists gain the legal right to walk our streets.

They will no doubt show their appreciation by attacking innocent Americans. And that will be the nastiest surprise of all.

Think that allowing illegal invaders into this country "to do jobs Americans won't do" isn't as bad as terroism? Ahhh.....read the article on this thread and than go ahead and support the illegal socialist libs OR scream like a banshee to House and Senate to get right on putting armed guards on the border AND deport all they can out of here now!

Of course, the New York (Com)post had to "balance" this great op-ed with a pro-open borders screed, devoid of facts, from Linda Chavez.
