New 'Today' Co-Host an Anti-War Protester: Entire Pre-Text for War Built on Lies
Posted by Brent Baker on April 6, 2006 - 12:41.
Meredith Vieira, one of the hosts on ABC's daytime show The View, who announced on Thursday's program that she has agreed to replace Katie Couric as co-host of NBC's Today, marched in an anti-Iraq war protest back in August of 2004. On the Monday, August 30, 2004 edition of The View, the former CBS 60 Minutes reporter told viewers that she attended the anti-Bush protest held in New York City on the Sunday before the Republican convention opened, insisting: "I didn't go anti-Bush or pro-Kerry. I'm still so upset about this war and I'm so proud I live in a country where you can protest." She showed a photo of herself marching with her pre-teen daughter and her husband, Richard, who was the senior political producer at CBS News for most of the 1980s. Behind her in the photo: A protest sign featuring a W, for George W. Bush, with a slash through it.
Earlier in 2004, she declared of the Iraq war: "Everything's been built on lies. Everything! I mean the entire pre-text for war." And, with war impending in March of 2003, Vieira argued that anti-war protests "should be consistent and repeated every day, I believe." On other episodes of The View Vieira has also made clear her opposition to the death penalty and when guest Ann Coulter charged that liberals hate America, Vieira called that stupid" and became defensive: But some people wrap themselves in the flag -- I mean, that's what some liberals are against. Then she charged: "Just like McCarthy: 'I'm just being patriotic.'"

That makes her a perfect fit.
So Katie's already decided to come back?
Are any of the gals from "the spew" notable as conservatives? I think not
I am surprised they would hire Meredith Vieira to replace Couric. She's over 50 and not what I thought they would replace Couric with. They usually go with the younger Babes.
I don't think Meredith Vieira will add much the "The Today Show" and I for one won't be watching her anyone than I did Couric.
Another liberal elitist on national television. *Yawn*
She's a match for the maroons who watch that morning DNC drivel ...
Well, she should have no problem fitting in.
It was probably a requirement for the job....
Not only is she anti-war, but she consistently slips in little gratuitous anti-republican and anti-conservative quips in her role as host of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" on ABC - just one more fashionably left-wing vacuum-head member of the media elite.......
Silly question time ....
How many working Americans will be home to watch her 5:30 show?
She's getting paid some major league dollars, to 'perform' to a segment of society that is either unemployed, unemployable, or work an early shift.
Please tell me you don't waste precious time on earth watching the daytime version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. I'm home alone most days, and I didn't even know there was such a thing. Go and sin no more. Turn of the boob tube.
Unfortunately, she'll air here LIVE at 6:30 PM CDT.
Your point is valid and I sure don't watch the evening network news.
Same show, same host, same viewers.
Nothing changes, except an ongoing dribble to the exits, or more precisely to other channels.
Well, she's welcome to work wherever she wants. And if she can command outrageous dollars; that's less dollars the corporation has to spend promoting their agenda.
We get our news either on FreeRepublic, or Fox.
Well do people think; that they would hire a patriotic conservative?
I have a really nice bridge to sell to people who would believe that.
JEL, Just Eliminate Lies. Don't watch network television.
Read books, go biking, spend time with family, etc.
Network television is about as worthwhile as porn is.
Mea culpa, mea culpa - but actually Who... comes on right after the noon local/ABC news which my wife and I usually more or less watch while having a leisurely lunch, and I sometimes linger on to watch all or part of the quiz - gives me an excuse to put off getting back to whatever chore I was involved in before lunch.....
Whew...what a relief! I'm going for a personal record for the greatest number of consecutive Today Show broadcasts not seen. This will help me resist any temptation to watch. Thanks, NBC!
Ditto.
Same here!
I've been told she got the job because she was already "stump broke."
