Your playing of the "islamophobe" card simply undescores the poverty of your ideas.
I prefer the word "islamonausea" or islamocontempt" to define the enemy.
Being a useful idiot, veteran or not, is not a comfortable position to be in today, with the world awakening to a serious threat to everyone, albeit a primitive one.
A useful idiot was one did not not recognize the fact that there was a real threat from the Communists.
I am not saying that there is not a threat from Islam or aspects of it.
What I am saying is that it is not the threat that some here wish to think it is.
I am a firm supporter of the long war against terror.
Using both overt and covert methods.
But I refuse to run around in terror stating that unless we change our ways and become more like the enemy we will lose.
Under Ronald Reagon we recognized the Communist threat and took simple measures supporting those who opposed it, increased defense spending and supporting any pro democracy movements.
We didn't need to become like them to defeat them
Some of our posters seem to have forgotten that history offers us some notable examples of civilizations overcome by barbarians. Most notable is the fact that in each and every case, these civilizations were overcome mainly because they had so thoroughly undermined their foundations through corruption and decadence.
But Will Durant says it so much more succinctly than I can:
"The Islamic conquest of India is probably the bloodiest story in history. It is a discouraging tale, for its evident moral is that civilization is a precious good, whose delicate complex order and freedom can at any moment be overthrown by barbarians invading from without and multiplying from within."
--Will Durant, The Story of Civilization
