McKinney incident referred to U.S. Attorney's Office
The Associated Press - ATLANTA
Capitol Hill police have referred a scuffle between one of their officers and U.S. Rep. Cynthia McKinney to the U.S. Attorney's Office in Washington, D.C., a spokesman for the office said Monday.
"We are working with Capitol Hill police to fully understand and appreciate the incident," principal assistant U.S. Attorney Channing Phillips told The Associated Press in a telephone interview. "Pending review, it is inappropriate for us to comment any further at this time."
Phillips would not say whether a warrant was issued for McKinney's arrest.
McKinney spokesman Coz Carson on Monday also acknowledged the investigation.
"We're aware that the wheels are turning in Washington," Carson said. "We have no control over what they decide to do. We will make the appropriate statement and take the appropriate action once we know where they're going."
At a press conference Monday morning, black clergy and lawmakers came the defense of the firebrand congresswoman. McKinney smiled as her supporters heaped praise on her leadership and her new look _ her trademark cornrows replaced earlier this year by a curly brown afro.

LOL...I hear ya!!
I canNOT believe the mileage Fox and especially Greta has gotten on that story...I swear she has covered Natalee Aruba more than all the press covered OJ murdering his wife!!
Cornrow infringement, cornrow infringement!
You know she probably hates Condi with a passion. Ha!
1. She was not wearing that special badge issued to members of Congress that allow them to bypass security lines.
2. Her hairdo didn't match known pictures of her to the guards.
Is it small wonder why she got into a confrontation with the guards for all the wrong reasons?
Don't forget ethnic recognition classes.....
Tomorrow's disguise...flip-flops and a house coat.......

McKinney accuses Capitol Hill cop of racism

"I do wear the pin when I remember to wear the pin," McKinney said. "But the pin is not the issue. The issue is facial recognition."
"She's a victim," said (Hal Pressley, president of the Coffee County branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People). "For Ms. McKinney not to be immediately recognized by the Capitol police was, in itself, an insult. She's recognizable from around the world, so in D.C., our capital, you would expect that almost any police officer would recognize her, with all the controversy attached to her name."
Pressley said a Capitol Hill police officer "like someone who just came off a plantation" once treated some black children he brought to Washington "like animals."
"They got to have a video tape ....."
and probably from several directions .. with the Capitol a prime terrorist target, and having lost 2 Capitol Police in a shooting several years ago, I bet there are cameras all over that building lobby.. better than instant replay.
Funny thing is, I heard Capitol Police were ready to drop it till McKinney held that presser/circus on Friday .. now she will be in deeper doo.
Not if she keeps having 'press conferences' and appearing on talking head shows. Any publicity is good to politicians like her.
I'd like to see little Cynthia get thrown out of Congress again.
I've been praying that the hypocrite dems are exposed for the corrupt politicians they are. Could this be the first of many???? ;-)
Bingo....
I hope she fries.... Start with that doo......
Ping me when the perp walk is on, that one's gonna be good...
Man am I glad I wasn't drinking anything when I saw that...
Awesome job.....
I'll offer my congrats too on whatever it is you folks are arguing about..
Sincerely,
Not a noob......
If she skates can another person use it in their defense, if they do the same?
If anyone in the House had any nards at all, they would vote to expel her.
I think she should be ejected from the House... the Speaker of the House should demand it...
Article. I.
Section. 5.
Each House may determine the Rules of its Proceedings, punish its Members for disorderly Behaviour, and, with the Concurrence of two thirds, expel a Member.
