McKinney incident referred to U.S. Attorney's Office
The Associated Press - ATLANTA
Capitol Hill police have referred a scuffle between one of their officers and U.S. Rep. Cynthia McKinney to the U.S. Attorney's Office in Washington, D.C., a spokesman for the office said Monday.
"We are working with Capitol Hill police to fully understand and appreciate the incident," principal assistant U.S. Attorney Channing Phillips told The Associated Press in a telephone interview. "Pending review, it is inappropriate for us to comment any further at this time."
Phillips would not say whether a warrant was issued for McKinney's arrest.
McKinney spokesman Coz Carson on Monday also acknowledged the investigation.
"We're aware that the wheels are turning in Washington," Carson said. "We have no control over what they decide to do. We will make the appropriate statement and take the appropriate action once we know where they're going."
At a press conference Monday morning, black clergy and lawmakers came the defense of the firebrand congresswoman. McKinney smiled as her supporters heaped praise on her leadership and her new look _ her trademark cornrows replaced earlier this year by a curly brown afro.

I'm sick of this. Berger. Rockefeller. They all skate. I agree totally, Peach. Around the world, the USG tells other countries to obey the "rule of law," but it turns out that the USG is the world's biggest "scofflaw." They refuse to enforce the immigration--and other--laws on the books.

Yep, she is a total disgrace. But you know what, I doubt she will suffer one bit, in fact, the media will give her legs and end up running for Governor or Senator. I really want to be soooooooo wrong.

I don't know; all the reporters I've seen have been giving her a hard time, asking if she did hit the guy or not.

How about one of her supporters holding a sign at her news conference. Cynthia McWacko galls me. She's an insult to the United States public, the House of Representatives, the State of Georgia, and to her not so bright constituency who voted her back into office!

Wolf did well with her on CNN> I couldn't believe that he asked intelligent questions and followed up!
She was incoherent - a near-raving lunatic.
Good job NE Atlanta in voting her back in. You should be proud.

They won't touch McKinney with a 39-1/2 foot pole.
The NAACP is already on the case, crying racism. I don't think anyone's compared this incident to Selma yet, but they're probably just waiting for Jesse and Al to land on it with both feet before playing that card, which should happen by tomorrow. Also by tomorrow, the DUmmies and the Kos Kidz will be banging the bars of their cages and baying at the moon. That will get the media started banging the race drum.
By Wednesday, the rest of the Dims will have picked up the beat and will rally around McKinney, crying about the humiliation and injustice she suffered at the hands of the racist Capitol Police. Maybe they'll stage a cheesy photo-op around some statue of Martin Luther King.
By Thursday, the NYT and the Compost will have weighed in, demanding that the racist Capitol Police be brought to justice and blaming the entire episode on "the fearmongering and xenophobic policies of the Bush Administration." Then they'll demand that Cheney, Rumsfeld and Rice resign over it, after trumpeting a poll that claims that 80 percent of the American people think the Capitol Police are racists.
By Friday, the US Attorney's Office will announce that they're dropping the charges, the Capitol Police will apologize to McKinney and announce that all their officers will be required to attend ethnic sensitivity and diversity awareness classes, and the officer that McKinney slugged will be handed his walking papers.

Throw the fat stupid bitch in jail! If I punched a capitol cop, that's sure as hell what would happen to me, after the mandatory beating.

Does anyone know why we don't seem to prosecute what is clearly wrong doing by Congress critters? Because we are no longer a nation of law, especially when it comes to our government officials. Half of Congress should probably be in jail.

Well thats good to hear, though it's hard to believe that the media isn't on the 'wrong side' of the facts and that they haven't yet used this as another example that all law enforcement are racists pigs. I'd say the keyword there is 'yet'. like I said, hope I'm wrong.

Thats just typical of the type of treatment I receive. Its typical. So, Im not surprised and Im not offended, McKinney said in the film. Okay. Thank you. Some things never change." Sounds like she suffers from DYKWIA syndrome. This syndrome affects many politicians. The longer a politician remains in office, the greater the potential to be infected with DYKWIA.

I emailed her office and told her that her using the race card was crap and that she should act like a lady and to use Condi Rice as a role model. Someone who was the picture of grace, elegance and sophistication.

She's on CNN. I'm waiting for her to say "This happened because the Whitehouse is run like a plantation."
