VIDALIA Concordia Parish Sheriffs Office jailer Dave Spurs was one of four people arrested on drug charges Thursday in a bust by state and federal law enforcement agencies.
After a lengthy investigation, narcotics agents and detectives with the Louisiana State Police along with a task force headed by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency served multiple search warrants Thursday morning at various Ferriday addresses.
Spurs, 51, 112 Doty Garden Road, Ferriday, was charged with three counts of distribution of schedule II drugs (crack cocaine).
Because he is an employee of the CPSO Spurs was taken to Alexandria and is believed to be in the custody of the U.S. Marshals office there. He appeared before a federal judge. Attempts to contact the marshals office for information on bond were unsuccessful.

Sheriff Randy Maxwell, also in a release, said Spurs would be suspended without pay until the matter was resolved.
We are fully cooperating with the Louisiana State Police as they pursue this case, he said.
Spurs will be prosecuted by the U.S. Attorneys office.

What? There's some corruption in Lousiana. Glory be!!!
I'm sure police officers have a pleasant time in prison.
Isn't this the home of First Cousins Jerry Lee Lewis, Jimmy Swaggart, and Mickey Gilley?
I dont think there has ever been a time when LA wasn't the most corrupt system in the country, stretching back to Huey Long. Socialism is rampant. But it is tied to federal entities. (the Dept of Education for starters..get rid of it, and watch tuition rates fall and the fat get trimmed off).
It is. I dated a girl from Ferriday that right next too it. Yeah that PArish is interesting. Again this "corruption" is really nothing we don't see nationwide as to this particular situation. Anyway, yeah its the home of Lewis, Swaggert, and Gilly all cousins. Its sort of far away from the main population centers of Louisiana that what happens there falls off the radar screen. Plus its right next door to Natchez Mississippi that of course is very corrupt lol so it makes some interesting tales. My mothers uncle used to run slots in that area and Concordia was a nice part of the revenue. In fact, the famed mobster Carlos Marcello used to control alot of the interest in that region. My great uncle said he was a funny guy but he didnt work up the nerve to ask if he killed Kennedy lol
There's been a new development in the case of a Shreveport Fire Captain arrested for driving while intoxicated and dealing drugs. Captain Richard Merrill, Jr., has retired from the department. Merrill sent in his papers Thursday morning.
Tuesday night Merrill was arrested by police in Dixie Inn, Louisiana, for his driving while intoxicated. It was his fourth offense. A camera mounted in the police cruiser shows Merrill being uncooperative and then asking the officer for a "professional courtesy."(snip)

Probably ... but as your statement indicates, corruption is not unique to LA. By channeling inflated profits into criminal hands as drug criminalization does, we invite more corruption everywhere.
