BTTT
I don't recall any one playing the angle of tax evasion - either charged to the employeer, illegal or both ! (You know, that's how the Feds got Al "Scarface" Capone!)
Personally I think anyone injured by an illegal alien should try to sue the company that hired them.
The lawyer for the four former workers, Bobby Lee Cook, is who the character Matlock was based on. If he's going after the carpet mills for hiring illegals, then they are in big trouble. I hate what the carpet mills have done to North Georgia. Everyone wrings their hands in fear of the carpet industry leaving North Georgia and going to Mexico. It really does not matter, for the industry has brought Mexico to North Georgia in the form of illegals.
hmmm.. and here we were contemplating some new carpeting too.
I'll have to look for the Made in a Gulag label more carefully now.
RICO, when a slap on the hand doesn't get someone's attention.
Bless them each one. I'd contribute to their legal fund before I'd send a penny to either political party. I do not like lawsuits, but in this case I'll make an exception. I hope this is the start of a tsunami wave of lawsuits against employers that hire illegal invaders in this country. Any business that wants to pay sweatshop wages, needs to pack their tent and take their operations to some 3rd world craphole country that needs it. Businesses like this don't give a flying flick about this country. Their total allegiance is to the almighty dollar.
"The lure of $7-an-hour work"
Now, that is sad.
I got a lot of family in Dalton,GA who are not too happy
about the ways things are turning out...
Dalton aint America anymore...it's Mexico...and not a nice place like it used to be...
imo
Companies that have volunteered for the pilot say the reporting mechanisms are flawed. Giant chicken processor Tyson Foods Inc. (TSN ), which joined in 1998, says the program helps verify Social Security numbers, but it cannot identify immigrants who may have assumed other people's names and personal data. "We believe companies should not be placed in the role of policing who has proper work documentation," says Tyson spokesman Gary Mickelson in a statement. Tyson was able to defeat a RICO suit brought by the Justice Dept. similar to the one Mohawk is fighting.
I live in NC where we raise a lot of chickens, turkeys and hogs with the assorted processing plants for various well known poultry and meat packers. Recently, in our area, I have noticed buses that are painted white. The windows on these buses are totally painted over and appear to be sealed. These buses have a very small (about the size of a salad plate) Tyson logo on the front otherwise they look like the old-fashioned yellow school bus that has been painted white with the windows completely painted over. I have come to believe these buses are full of illegal workers. I can think of no other explanation other than Tyson is trying to hide the use of illegal Hispanic workers.
If someone has another plausible explanation I w/b glad to listen!
The effect of a crackdown "would be very, very significant and very, very costly," says Bert Lance, a Calhoun native and former head of the Office of Management & Budget under former President Jimmy Carter....tells me the program must have merit.
This is the 1st story I have read that offered a hint to one of the two reasons unemployment remains low in areas where cheap illegal aliens inundate towns:
The 1st reason is that there are as many illegals as a company could want, so long as it has no scruples about displacing a resident that has roots in the area that may go back for many generations.
The second, super top secret tip top priority PC hide it under the rug reason, is that the legal resident worker who got replaced by the illegal has to pay his bills somehow, can't raise his family for less than 1/2 of what he was making (or would have been making if the resident just graduated from high school), and is unwilling to either live 5 familes to the household or have his wife be his girlfriend instead, and pop out babies for the welfare money, and has moved the hell out of there!!
Nothing will lower unemployment figures faster than White Flight
(Yes... That Cesar Chavez.)
bumping
The largest local newspaper is going to interview me for a story about this during the week.
IMHO the unstated purpose of "Guest Worker" program is to obtain data on Employers.
Rush made a very interesting point today about illegals who were hired in Nebraska a few years ago by the meat packing industry. The INS did its level best to enforce the law only to be met by unified opposition from the industry and the state's congressional delegation, particularly including Senator Hagel. The result was the enforcement action was dropped and the INS director at the time was forced into early retirement. If this is the case everywhere, then law suits like this might be the only way the law, whatever it is, can be enforced.

New Penalties for Employers of Illegal Aliens
Also earlier this month, the House Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee heard HB 1151, which would require employers to review and verify the validity of employee identification documents (social security cards, ICE work authorization forms, other forms of work authorization, driver's licenses, and other government issued identification cards), to secure an affidavit from each employee affirming that the work authorization and identification documents provided are valid and current, and swear out an affidavit affirming that the employer has verified the validity of documentation provided by the employee.
The bill further states that any employer who employs an illegal alien shall be liable for any and all medical costs resulting from any injury sustained by the illegal alien while in the course of business, including hospital costs, professional medical costs, nursing care and rehabilitation costs, and transportation back to the employee's country of origin.
Civil penalties outlined in the bill range from $500 to $5,000 for each day of noncompliance, increasing with each offense. This bill would impose on New Hampshire businesses an obligation to verify the validity of documents that federal immigration officials sometimes struggle to verify, and then impose serious sanctions if mistakes are made.
The prime sponsor of HB 1151 is Rep. Jordan Ulery (R-Hudson). The bill is before the House Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee. A hearing on this bill and several other immigration bills was held on January 11th. A work session has not yet been scheduled. NHLRA is very concerned with this legislation.
Here's a good way to stop illegal immigration cold.
Seize ALL property of those business owners who have hired illegal aliens. Split the receipts between business owners who went out of business because they didn't hire illegals, all of the Americans who lost a job to an illegal, and all the taxpayers who paid benefits to these illegals in the form of health care, education, insurance, infrastructure, and associated costs of police and incarceration.
As Rush pointed out today, the big donors who employ illegals OWN our congressmen so that will never happen.
