Capitol Hill police are expected to seek an arrest warrant next week for Rep. Cynthia McKinney of Georgia, who was involved in a physical confrontation with a Capitol police officer Wednesday, police and legal authorities said Thursday.
Officially, the investigation of the incident, in which the DeKalb County Democrat allegedly struck a police officer who tried to stop her from going around a security checkpoint, is ongoing, said Sgt. Kimberly Schneider, spokeswoman for Capitol Hill police.
However, police have notified the federal prosecutor's office in Washington that they will be seeking an arrest warrant after the investigation is complete next week, said police and legal authorities, who spoke on the condition that they not be named because the investigation was not yet complete.
McKinney ignored a reporter's questions Thursday as she walked into the Capitol, before word of the planned arrest warrant. She could not be reached for comment later Thursday. . . .

She'll issue an "apology", cry some crocodile tears about being under great stress, and the guard will be quietly moved to another job.

You forgot the most important piece of evidence in her favor. The police officer grabbed her by the arm first. She can always say it was a startled reaction to being grabbed.
This case is going nowhere.

Probably not. What percentage of Americans do you think have heard of her? Probably not very high. She isn't exactly a mover and shaker. She only gets noticed when she does something stupid.
To: rhema
Has she "Whaled Out" or is that picture in the article simply unflattering?

"She makes Trafficant look sane."
I was just debating whether or not find a picture of my former congressman to post next to McKinney.

She can always say it was a startled reaction to being grabbed. It's hard to be startled after you've ignored multiple verbal warnings to stop. She'll need to do better than that.

The policeman did not do his job.
When an enraged idiot tried to push through a police check point and slugs a police man, he should have incapacitated her even if the police man had to use fatal force.
To: SmoothTalker
She only gets noticed when she does something stupid. She should be in breaking news constantly then.

No chance that charges will ever be pressed.....
You forgot reason #4: she keeps talking about it being a minor incident that occured while she was on her way to perform her Congressional duties. Sounds like she's trying to set up an Article I, Section 6 defense to me ...
