McKinney faces arrest over security incident

Capitol Hill police are expected to seek an arrest warrant next week for Rep. Cynthia McKinney of Georgia, who was involved in a physical confrontation with a Capitol police officer Wednesday, police and legal authorities said Thursday.

Officially, the investigation of the incident, in which the DeKalb County Democrat allegedly struck a police officer who tried to stop her from going around a security checkpoint, is ongoing, said Sgt. Kimberly Schneider, spokeswoman for Capitol Hill police.

However, police have notified the federal prosecutor's office in Washington that they will be seeking an arrest warrant after the investigation is complete next week, said police and legal authorities, who spoke on the condition that they not be named because the investigation was not yet complete.

McKinney ignored a reporter's questions Thursday as she walked into the Capitol, before word of the planned arrest warrant. She could not be reached for comment later Thursday. . . .

Nancy Pelosky was in full defense mode on McKinney yesterday. What's the big deal about defending the assault on a cop, they've been defending the murderer for decades.

I can't believe how far our Congress has decended to have the likes of this person making decisions that effect the entire country. It is people like this that moves forward the disgust that we now hold for our lawmakers.

I like the part where McKinney accused the Cap Hill officer of being racist. Priceless.

CAIR PRESS RELEASE

(WASHINGTON, D.C., 8/22/02) - The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), a Washington-based Islamic civil rights and advocacy group, today thanked Rep. Cynthia McKinney (D-GA) for her past support of the Muslim community and offered encouragement for her future endeavors on behalf of those who lack a voice in our society.

On Tuesday, McKinney lost a primary election to a candidate heavily backed by the pro-Israel lobby and assisted by a significant Republican cross-over vote. McKinney's opponents objected to her balanced positions on the Middle East conflict and to her willingness to address the concerns of American Muslims and Arab-Americans.

In a letter to McKinney, CAIR Executive Director Nihad Awad wrote:

"As you said in your concession speech on Tuesday, 'Doing what is right is not always easy. Sometimes you are faced with a choice between doing what is politically safe or doing what is right. Sometimes you have to stand up
to seemingly unbeatable odds, speak the truth to the most powerful interests, to do what is right.'

"It was this willingness to do what is right, in spite of the consequences, that drew the admiration and support of Muslims and Arab-Americans nationwide.

"In Congress, you stood for the poor, the forgotten and the disenfranchised. Your example motivated thousands of ordinary people to get involved in the political process and to fight for their civil rights and human dignity.

"The Muslim community wishes to once again thank you for all your efforts on behalf of our nation. We will support you in any future efforts, whether in the political arena or in the private sector, to promote the cause of justice and inclusion."

My husband's worked for the same nuclear plant for almost 10 years now. To enter the plant he must have his ID badge visible, place any carry items into a scanner, go through a metal detector, followed by a radiation monitor, complete a hand geometry scan and then still have a visual scan of his ID by security guards he's known for years.

He misses any of this, not only doesn't he get into work, he may face termination or at minimum a suspension. But again, he's just a little person...

Too bad Johnny Cochrane wasn't alive. We all know that he's the one that this clown would be calling.

I'm sure she'll find another bottom feeding race monger to trumpet her cause.

It was a really ugly thing.

I challenge you to find an instance of someone's rep becoming further apart on the political spectrum overnight like that.
