Both sides are looking at it as an issue that can mobilize their base

How the he!! are the Republican Senators trying to mobilize their base by voting for guest-amnesty? They've mobilized me to join the minutemen and start looking for a conservative party.

These demonstrations are going to backfire in the long run, the Mexicans just don't realize it yet. They have wised up more people to the danger of themselves than they'll ever know. Congress had better think twice before they cater to them just because they can generate a huge mob. The Silent Majority (of both parties) is an even bigger mob.

Back in the 60's I had the misfortune of being stuck on the Interstate 5 freeway in Seattle, when a bunch of Hippies from the University of Washington decided to take over the freeway and march down it for 3 or 4 miles. It took HOURS, and the longer I was stuck there, the madder I got. By the time I got home, I WAS A POLITICAL ACTIVIST! That was 45 years ago, and I'm still at it. Those stupid Hippies made converts of many of us that day. Those Mexicans are doing the same thing. They're rubbing their illegality and lawlessness in everyone's face. They're advertising what "peaceful" and "Mexico-first" demanding free-loaders they are. The more obnoxious they get, the more converts they'll make.
