Back in the 60's I had the misfortune of being stuck on the Interstate 5 freeway in Seattle, when a bunch of Hippies from the University of Washington decided to take over the freeway and march down it for 3 or 4 miles. It took HOURS, and the longer I was stuck there, the madder I got. By the time I got home, I WAS A POLITICAL ACTIVIST! That was 45 years ago, and I'm still at it. Those stupid Hippies made converts of many of us that day. Those Mexicans are doing the same thing. They're rubbing their illegality and lawlessness in everyone's face. They're advertising what "peaceful" and "Mexico-first" demanding free-loaders they are. The more obnoxious they get, the more converts they'll make.
I think that will be the case.
After seeing those images over the week-end it made me start thinking about how we avoid it in the coming years. Especially when we swear immigrants in as citizens that lie about their allegiances. I have now started posting this to try and get people to start thinking about the alternatives we have:
The times they are a changing...and so should the laws of citizenship for immigrants. Learning to speak our language should be a priority, making it easier for them to interact with people of other cultures and not stay isolated in a new country. Also, when they swear allegiance to the United States of America, it should be understood that if at anytime they have a change of heart and choose allegiance to any other nation's flag over ours, they need to pack their bags. Citizenship ends at that point. Disagreement is one thing, but what I viewed over the week-end of their signs and the burning of American flags, whether they were immigrants or criminals made my blood boil, as it did with others who viewed it. NO MORE! IT's time to change the playing field.
I hope you are right. Seeing the Mexican flags displayed - and the total lack of respect for the U.S. flag - make me sick.
