Nope, he never did.
He was in an accident a few years back and had to take time off.
That was the extent of his retirement. ;o)

I heard that it was after his accident that he decided to retire. I know I've read a few times where he claimed he was going to retire but then a book would appear! I think he has too much going on in his head to ever stop completely!
