Worst case scenario is the grave possibility that most Americans will not wait nor listen to the President and will immediately shoot to kill any and all Muslims be they man, woman or child.

Frankly I feel the government will falter and the secondary option will be implemented.

I fear you are correct.

If it came to that kind of chaos, I would feel obligated as an American to take in and shelter any Muslim neighbors (of non-radical persuasion of course), which would of course make my family a target too.

You cannot believe how relieved I am that I don't have any Muslim neighbors (no neighbors = no Muslim neighbors!), so I will not have to make that decision.

The potential for chaos beyond imagination is so close that it is blood-chilling.

Pete, I believe you've hit the nail on the head. As much as I would like to think that we still have the backbone to follow through on MAD, I don't think we do. Now if they came out right now and said "Any nuke strike on this country from Islamo-terrorists and Mecca will be nuked 24 hours later". That I could believe.

This would be a great thing for our leaders to say; however I think for the same reason as #1, it won't be said. I hate to say it, but the way things have gone so far this year the relevant question may end up being "¿El papá, cuál era América?" not "Daddy, what were Muslims?"

While there will be those who dismiss a spineless US government's willingness to retaliate.....the government would have to, or be overrun by vengeance minded citizens, looking for any and all targets to vent upon. A government that dallies will be a government that doesn't stand long.

Further, domestic Muslims would best dig a deep hole and hide for a very long time, lest they be targets of opportunity for outraged citizens.

Enlistment numbers would go ballistic. A Left and pacifist movement would be cowed, or neutralized. Muslim nations would see a mass exodus of citizens across borders, seeking to escape massive and seemingly indiscriminate US retaliatory strikes. Numerous foreign governments would be pleading for mercy from an enraged and bloodthirsty military, fixated on total victory and absolute punishment for any and all potential culprits. There is no guarantee that the civilian portion of the Federal government could stay the hands of warriors bent on defense of the homeland.

When "they" attempted to murder 75,000 Americans, destroyed a symbol of our nations, attempted to destroy our Executive and Legislative Branches, danced in the streets for succeeding at killing 3000 innocents, and took a few percentage points off the top of the entire economy our reponse was...

To call for peaceful reflection, call it the Religion of Peace until our ears bled, and to allow armies of liberal lawyers to assert the legal rights of Muslims above those of Americans, making it a police action rather than a military response.
