MASTER THREAD: FReeper Activism -- reports of turning in employers of illegal aliens
U.S. Border Control ^ | 3-28-06 | dfu

Posted on 03/28/2006 1:01:32 PM PST by doug from upland

THE IDEA STARTED ON THIS THREAD.

U.S. BORDER CONTROL
Turn in illegal aliens

We are hearing that reports of employers using illegal aliens or instances of illegal aliens engaged in criminal activity, have been responded to quickly by the new agency. Please note that it is unlikely that ICE will take any action against an illegal alien that is not employed illegally or engaged in some other sort of illegal activity.

The TOLL FREE number to report ILLEGAL aliens or those employing ILLEGAL aliens to ICE is: 866-347-2423

How it works:

You are not required to provide your identity to ICE.  All that is necessary to request an investigation by ICE is mere suspicion of any activity by ILLEGAL aliens.

ICE and the IRS are especially interested in "visiting" those businesses that employ ILLEGALS "off the books" to avoid the payment of payroll taxes.

Small and large businesses are equally notorious in the hiring of ILLEGAL aliens to avoid paying fair wages to its workers and to criminally evade the collection and payment of payroll taxes.

We are interested in getting current information regarding how helpful or unhelpful the new agency has been in taking your information and following up on your complaint, so please drop us an email to keep us current.

===========================

===========================

FReepers, here is a chance to make a difference in this battle. The only thing that will stop the invasion is stopping the employers who hire illegal aliens.

Please use this thread to give us reports of what you are doing. We need to develop a list of those businesses who can prove that they do not hire illegal aliens. If, for instance, you have spoken with someone at a certain restaurant and can determine that the restaurant does not hire illegal aliens, let us know about it. Those in the area need to partronize that restaurant. Positive publicity needs to be generated for them for being good Americans.

If you have evidence (perhaps including photos) of a business that is hiring illegals, report it to the number above and give us a report. Please do your homework on this. Make sure you get it right.

This may or may not have a significant impact, but we can't just sit here and watch our nation and culture being destroyed. If we can do this enough times around the country and make sure we get publicity, we have the potential to do something really important here.

Who is going to be first?

Obviously we are not quite that optimistic. If we can raise enough awareness and harness the anger that was created over the weekend, maybe we can make a dent in the problem.

We'll I'm payin' for ICE people to get something done... so I figured I might as well be a "good citizen" and point the finger where it needs to be pointed.

Once upon a time, Bill O'Reilly called for a boycott of France, which proved to be rather effective.

In what way?

I think we might have done some damage to their wine industry and sales here.

Actually it little, if anything, to do with that bloviating non-pithy host. According to this article the sale of French wine is even down domestically and has been decreasing for some time.

Sales of AOC French wine in the crucial export market also plunged by nearly 10% in 2003, with the exception of the best-known, highest quality "grand cru" bordeaux and burgundies and of champagne, which are still managing to book 6-7% sales growth a year. A strong euro did not help, but for most industry experts it is ever stiffer competition from what the French call "New World" wines, from Australia, California, South Africa and Chile, that is mostly to blame. Australian wine exports climbed by nearly 25% last year, while sales of US wines abroad were up nearly 17%.

Rather taste more than politics. But I'm off to Europe for a week or so in May. If you would like me to pick you up a bottle of good French wine, let me know..

Do what I did in the last election. Put a magnetic sticker on your car so it can be removed when you park.

REPORT - March 28, 2006

Company: Sears - Monclair, CA

They connected me to human resources. I started by thanking them for protecting the jobs of National Guardsmen who were called to serve. Then, I said I hope I am going to be able to continue being a customer, but you have to answer a question. I have made a decision that I will only shop at businesses that do not hire illegal aliens. Can you assure me that such is the case with Sears. She answered yes. They check green card, ID, and social security number. They even verify that the SS number is real. Good for Sears. I am sure that will be company policy across the country.

If we can raise enough awareness and harness the anger that was created over the weekend, maybe we can make a dent in the problem.

But it needs to be national. And we need to go to the airwaves with this to get the word out. Rush has been on the illegal immigration bandwagon this week - IF he would mention it, it would work. O'Reilly, John&Ken, Hannity....I know the Minutemen are doing something with day laborer sites, but are they involved in anything like this? This is something anyone can get involved in without having to take time off of work or go tothe border. It has the possibility of spreading quickly.

We need a website to post both good/bad businesses. So everyone can check in to see where to go and what to avoid for maximum impact.

However, my logical mind surfaces again. Would it have the potential of a lawsuit though? Putting a business under the heading of hiring illegals in writing could be asking for trouble. (I read some idiot is suing eHarmony.com for discriminating against him because he was married and they wouldn't allow him to participate! For every idiot out there, there are at least 2 lawyers.)

The executive director of the Minutemen loves this idea.

..an unfortunate time in our history

Recent events are the product of a generation of ignoring international law and operating businesses with a purely pragmatic mindset.

Los Pollos Locos have come home to roost...
