SELMER, Tenn. The preacher's wife charged with murder in the death of her husband wanted his congregation to know "she was sorry for everything she has done," said a friend who visited her in jail Sunday.

Sorry, I did not make myself clear.
The Lawyer implied that the gun may have gone accidently, that she did not maan to kill him. Who knows?
Even if you're on the bad guys side in a war?
Since they end up dead, regardless of the reason, it must be relative.
Was he not shot in the back? I am sorry, but if I am going to scare somebody with a gun would it not be more effective if he was actually looking at it, not to mention I would probably be yelling at him so I would more than likely have his attention, especially with that gun in my hand?
I hope you didn't marry a Japanese guy.
The only motive
that explains this kind of crime
(assuming the wife
hasn't been plain nuts
for years but just hiding it)
is if the woman
came to believe that
the guy abused their children.
It's the only thing
I can imagine
would make a "normal" woman
kill her kids' father.
Thanks. I wonder why she fled, unless it was her intention to remove her children from the situation, but then I wonder why she didn't take them directly to the home of a loved one, who could care for them, and call the police from there.
I'm just praying for all who have been directly effected by the ramifications of her actions - including herself.
The first hints are already appearing that the defense will turn this into a secretly abused wife, had no other way out, all the husband's fault.
Years ago, I read an article by a feminist (I think it was in the Village Voice of NYC) in which she claimed that when a man murders, its an act designed to perpetuate a system of patriarchal control over women and children, but when a woman (excuse me, womyn) murders, its a liberating act that strikes a blow at the repressive system of patriarchy.
Reading these comments by Freepers falling all over themselves trying to rationalize and justify this woman's criminal act, (not to mention thousands of similar comments on various threads thru the years) I realize all hope is lost and that the left has won the debate, and that there will be no escape from the statist/feminist/multicult glorious radiant future the left has in store for us.
Unless he never believed she would actually pull the trigger, and turned away from her to walk away, which could have angered her, that causing her to move in a way that accidentally caused the gun to discharge after her focus shifted from what she was doing to what he was doing.
But, all is mere speculation until the facts are revealed.
Yup.
Since she confessed (and I am not going to keep up with this thing at all) will the reason why she did it come out in court?
Hopefully not. I hope, for the sake of the children, that steps are taken to do as much of it as is possible out of the public eye, and that it is over quickly.
Having been through a couple of "skirmishes" myself I can say that regardless of which side you are on, war becomes a scenario of self-defense. Right or wrong really goes out the window as soon as the shooting starts. People are shooting at you and you are shooting at them. Each side is in the business of defending themselves and their buddies.
IMO, the kids may be the reason she killed him. God forbid, but she may have found out he was sexually abusing them and flipped out and shot him. If this was the case, it should be easy enough to prove as the two oldest are old enough to verbalize.
Who knows if this scenario is a possibility, but something big enraged her enough to shoot and kill her husband. If incest does turn out to be the reason, I don't condone it but certainly understand her motive for killing him.
You're right. I wasn't clear enough. I should have made a distinction between killing and murder. Killing in war and self defense--even in defense in someone else--is not murder in my view. And when I say killing to defend another, I mean that if you see someone attacked in front of you and the only way to save that person is to kill the attacker right then, then it is justified. To kill the attacker later when the victim is not in immediate danger, then that is NOT justified.
On the other hand, she could just be another Andrea Yates suffering from post-partum depression. The youngest child is one. All three girls will have to undergo physical exams to determine if they had been sexually molested. If this was indeed the case...and that remains to be proven, I can understand her rage and her want to retaliate. No matter what her motive or reasons, the fact is that these kids will have to grow up without either parent. It's always easy to label the husband a molester or wife-beater, especially when he isn't around to defend himself, and after having worked 23 years in the prison system of NY, it's hard not to think that way, but until we know what really happened, all we have is speculation and innuendo.
I hope so, otherwise, someone sure ain't doing their job very well.
I believe you're right.
