Rep. James Sensenbrenner, R-Wisc., says he's not going to be deterred by the wave of demonstrations protesting his bill to crack down on illegal immigration.

Responding to a pro-illegal immigration demonstration in Milwaukee on Thursday, Sensenbrenner called the protest "impressive," but added: "Many have tried to confuse the difference between legal and illegal immigration."

Nice. And the teeny little American hand flags tossed in as an insulting obligatory technicality. None of those foreign flags should have been there. Makes me sick, and I'm sure many millions of other Americans too.

If i understand your point correctly, you want to throw in the towel, and take the "IF YOU CAN'T BEAT EM, JOIN EM" position. I, FOR ONE, AM NOT GOING TO WATCH OUR GOVT., BOTH FEDERAL AND STATE GO DOWN THE TUBES SUPPORTING THESE ILLEGAL CRIMINALS SO YOU CAN HAVE YOUR LAWN MOWED FOR $10.00.

Spin Spin away, you hopeless leftist..you forget his mother died trying to bring him to America.,.and he was in his relatives home HERE. Liberalism is a mental disorder and you manifest it very well.

Excuse me? I didn't say I agreed with what happened! You should go in forum in my profile and read my posts before you make baseless accusations like that. I just said one picture had nothing to do with the other and I still say that.

Without the illegal, we are doomed economically and will end up like Europe is today....dying off.
Let me guess - your last name is Little and your first name begins with a C.
You couldn't be more wrong and if you think embracing illegals is the answer, you're no patriot no matter where you live.

But why is it that these demonstrators are carrying Mexican flags, and not US flags. They don't see it as being grateful that we allow them in. They see it as their right, because the land was "stolen" from them.

I think that's what many here object to. This is a nation of immigrants. But it used to be the immigrants who came to this country, loved this country and were loyal to this country.

This is not the case with these illegal aliens. Again, I bet Mexican flags outnumbered American flags by at least 100 to 1 in those demonstrations.

There is no easy answer, but is it too much to ask that if someone comes into to this country, and gets the benefits of this country, that at least they are loyal to it?

"I'd like to see a congressional bill written to crack down on George Bush!"

Yes! It is going to be interesting (for lack of a better word) to see how El Presidente reacts to the massive protests by the illegals. Wouldn't it be refreshing to see the immigration laws upheld?

I also have to say that it's kind of crazy that you are attacking me when we are clearly on the same side of the issue. Elian's case has nothing to do with a Mexican mother who is illegally in our country and I just think it's ridiculous to put up his picture and try to compare the two as if the government would seperate her from her child.

This part of your post was difficult to read. It's coming in very hazy!

It boggles the mind that there are FReepers who assert that illegal immigration is not a problem for the Republicans and further assert that the administration is effectively addressing the problem.

Talk about kool-aid.

Yeah all those illegals in the streets screaming "Nazi" and demanding we change our laws to benefit foreign nationals look like future Republicans to me.

I have no desire to see the illegals here that are working hard and that have legitimate fixed addresses deported.

Register them, give them social security numbers and seal our borders. Yesterday is soon enough, IMO.

When the kid is 18 he can come back and apply for his mother to come in legally.

Stupidity is also a mental disorder and you do very well as their poster child.

You're a hypocrite, IMO.

Elian is back with his father...which in case you didn't know...trumps the hell out of "relatives".

How do you weigh the value of having a working individual in country against the laws he broke getting in here, getting a job and perpetuating the lawbreaking?

Are you willing to allow the criminal activities to be "swept under the rug"?

IMO the lawbreaking must be addressed. Beyond that, we need to find a way to get people in legally - make sure they're not criminals, not terrorists, and are healthy (not carrying TB etc).

But simply allowing the to stay is not an option in my book.

I think this problem will cost the Republicans dearly.

"Bush has no power in this debate.... Reid has all the power."

One of the dumbest post ever at FR.

Who's the President? Who has the bully-pulpit? Who sets the agenda for America? Are you capable of comprehending the word, "leadership"?

Thanks for being rational. Those mobs have no right coming here to demand anything. They are aided and protected by Democrats who want all their votes.

That statement would be correct if you had included Republicans also. Aside from a handful of Republicans, I see very little, if any, difference in them and the dims on this issue.

When I hear Bush say "jobs Americans won't do" I just want to scream. It makes me sorry I ever voted for him. It's jobs Americans won't do for $2.00 an hour. That's the going rate here for construction workers....$2.00 an hour CASH....no questions asked. I'm sure it's the same in other places.

That ship sailed years ago.

It's the Federal Government's and to a minimal lesser degree, the State's fault for not enforcing the illegal immigration laws of this country. At this point in time, the broken "laws" you speak of...are moot.

To have a wholesale deportation of millions of illegals would do much more damage to state economies than a dozen 9-11 attacks.

The only reason it "will cost the Republicans dearly" is because suggesting what you propose allows that harp Hillary Clinton to take advantage by citing as she did last week...the bible and suggesting Jesus would be in violation of a law.
