Joining what some are calling the nation's largest mobilization of immigrants ever, hundreds of thousands of people boisterously marched in downtown Los Angeles Saturday to protest federal legislation that would crack down on undocumented immigrants, penalize those who help them and build a security wall on the U.S. southern border. Spirited crowds representing labor, religious groups, civil-rights advocates and ordinary immigrants stretched over 26 blocks of downtown Los Angeles from Adams Blvd. along Spring Street and Broadway to City Hall, tooting kazoos, waving American flags and chanting "Si se puede!" (Yes we can!). The crowd, estimated by police at more than 500.000, represented one of the largest protest marches in Los Angeles history, surpassing Vietnam War demonstrations and the 70,000 who rallied downtown against Proposition 187, a 1994 state initiative that denied public benefits to undocumented migrants.

Many of the marchers were immigrants themselves both legal and illegal -- from Mexico and Central America. Some had just crossed the border, while others had been here for decades. There were construction workers and business owners; families with young children and people in wheelchairs. Throughout the afternoon, protesters heard speakers demand a path toward legalization and denounce HR 4437, which would tighten border enforcement and crack down on employers who hire undocumented workers.
The rally was organized by numerous unions, religious organizations and immigrant rights groups and publicized through Spanish-language media, which encouraged participants to wear white to symbolize peace and bring American flags. The mostly peaceful march stretched over 26 blocks, shutting down streets and tying up traffic around downtown for hours. Police estimated the crowd at 500,000... Participants said the massive mobilization shows that immigrants' voices must be heard and that they are contributing to the country's economy.

You need to be more specific. As in, copy and paste the posts that you object to, and speak to the person whose made the comments. You need to be ready to get into a debate with people you disagree with, rather than hiding behind your generalizations ... which is cowardly.
You would be very surprised how non-racist and sophisticated many of us are. But I think you have made your mind up already that we are a bunch of dumb whiteys.
So, are you ready to go mano a mano?
bttt
All Americans will see that an American can definitely get the job done and get it done much better than the illegals who need to go back where they came from.
Never again will I put up with having an illegal cut my lawn, or do any jobs that an AMERICAN can and will do BETTER!
Time to be a guest-taxpayer
Americans have fought for freedom all our lives something you know NOTHING about, all you want is a free ride from generous Americans, otherwise you would have come here legally like the immigrants who are welcomed from other european countries who RESPECT AMERICAN VALUES who are troops are fighting hard for they are not loosing their lives to protect the likes of you they are fighting for AMERICANS who respect them who support them and our Country!
You have shown DISRESPECT to our troops, our Country, our flag, and we do not and will not tolerate disrespect to our politicians, to us, to our Country to our troops from the likes of you!
FoxNews estimated there were 25,000.
The monster under the bed: granting illegals the vote, and in some states they've been voting, along with the dead for years. Recently in Lowell, MA, a raid on an apt. house where illegals were jammed in like sardines -- behind a blanket on a rope were all the phony documents you'd ever need to live the good life in the USofA, and every contraption necessary to reproduce them ad infinitum.
Most of them have houses and cars and bank accounts and plasma tvs.
So what. They were given a letter by ICE to settle their affairs and show up at court to be deported. The so-called 'run' letter. They were given notice.
They should be sent home now. "what about my house an car?" You were given a letter telling you to get your stuff in order. You've had plenty of time. It will be sold at police aution and used to settle your account.
Would you call this a 'Million-Illegal-Immagrant' march. (There weren't a million at any of the other million-whatever-marches either).
What's so ironic...when they shouted 'Freedom isn't just for Americans, we demand human rights, etc.' Mexico's already said publicly that they're 'integrating' with the US and there's nothing we can do about it...this with a smirk. Life is good for Fox and pals. It's so much easier to export the bottom half of your population, why bother educating them, giving them jobs and a chance for a decent life when you can toss them over the border and get nine or ten billion a year in remittances. How great is that! Well, a recent poll suggests that half of everyone left in Mexico is packing. That's the middle class, folks, and when they're gone, the country collapses. What will Bush do then? Present the US voter with the fait d'accompli...that Mexico is the fifty-first state?
If dead people can vote you can bet the RATs have the illegals voting!
Bingo! The next demand after that will be "Reparations!" And guess who'll be on the podium with the Mayor of LA? Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton!
Mexico has clamped onto us like a blood sucking leech and that's how the hacks in DC like it. And GW is leading the charge. Voted for him twice by the way
Had a conversation with some truckdrivers recently laid off by Kraft (formerly Veryfine Juices, in Littleton, MA.). We knew busloads of Brazilians had been brought in from Lowell to take over jobs when the 'merger' went through last year. If the average American applied for a job, you were turned down. Period. Why? Because Kraft is paying these illegals bottom dollar. And why call them illegals? Well, fake US documents have been available on any Brazilian street corner for some time, and when the cops raided a Lowell, MA apt., last year where illegals were jammed in wall to wall, they found behind a blanket on a rope: every facility necessary to make any fake US document your heart could desire.
Thanks for that smile on my face.
Former resident there. I'm familiar with the Brazilian invasion of Massachusetts. Nice people but illegal as hell. They gotta go along with the others
