Are you a member of an organized religion? I'm not asking to attack or condemn, just wondering what your frame of reference is.
My religion has heaven, hell and purgatory. There's a short list of things that gets one the e-ticket to hell, purgatory is where we pay for our sins, and heaven is the reward. Your scenario would fit better here, I think. I'm not an expert.

blu,

no i am not a religous person, and i am for the most part tolerant of other people's religion...except i am not tolerant of things like: muslim countries who will kill someone for practising christianity...or for mormons who demand 10% tithe on gross income even if a family can't make mortgage payments, buy food or pay medical bills (let's face it, the mormon church would rather have 1,000 sinners that pay tithe, than a 10,000 true believers that don't pay tithe - and what does that say??)...or religions that think they are better than people who are not religious yet who are of high moral standard...or those hypocrites within churches that commit unspeakable sins against children, and do it under the cloak of god

...yes, those are some of the things i am not tolerant of...but for the most part, i do agree that most church-goers are good people who strive to live a healthy family life with good morals

...and one last point, i do not think that churches should be tax exempt...why should non-religious people have to pay a higher tax rate, since churches are exempt...let the members pay
